CHICAGO, July 8. First steps toward
the founding of a labor tcmplo In this city
wcro taken by the Chicago Federation of
Labor, when a resolution empowering the
executive commltteo to consider tho pro
ject was adopted by tho delegates to the
assembly. Under the terms of the resolu
tion tho committee Is required to report at
as early a date as posslblo whether the
proposed labor temple should bo leased,
purchased or hullt. It Is tho purposo to
mako tho "temple" a homo for all tne
Chicago labor unions, a place whero thry
could hold meetings, have their offices and
devolop in addition, through clubs and
Lennvqlent societies, tlio social side of life
that Is now too often neglected wholly In
trades organizations as at present con
ducted. The resolution, which waB Intro
duced by President Otto Noyak of the
United Metal Workors' union, recited some
of the leading arguments In favor of the
labor temple.

company for $3,600
000. Tho salo was made by tho recelveri
of the company, under order of court lssue
In proceedings to forocloso the mortgage,
given to secure the payment nf the bonds
of tho defunct company, upon which the
Interest was defaulted In April ot this year,
Sixteen breweries are Involved In the tran
saction and tho purchasing company wat
organized for the purpose of taking over1
the property and conducting It In the Inter
eit of thn holders of the Junior securities
of the arylaDd Brewing company.
