John Morlarty. a teamster living at Four
teenth and Leavenworth stre6ts. told the
police yesterday morning how he had been
made tho victim rf misplaced confidence. He
said that when aolng home Monday night he
was accosted by a stranger. loughly dressed,
who told such a harrowing tale of woo that
he took him to his home. There he fitted
the stranger with an almost new suit of
clothing nnd provided him with sleeping
accommodations for the night.
During the evening the two men chatted
nnd when the strauger said ho was dry
Morlnrty sent out for beer. They agreed
to remain friends and nflcr an exchange of
courtesies both retired for the night.
Yesterday morning when Morlarty awoko
ho discovered his newly found friend had
vaulshcd nnd that with him had gone tbe
clothing, several dollars of money and a
few miscellaneous articles of minor value.
He communicated his loss to the police and
on his complaint James Benson was ar
rested. Morlarty identified the man and
got hack hit) property.
