The funeral cor.vlceB of tho late Wlnfleld
S Strawn were held nt 2 o'clock yesterday
afternoon In Masonic temple, Sixteenth
street ajid Capitol avenue. The Episcopal
service was read at the hall by Dean Camp
bell Fair and Rov. T. J. Mackay, und the
ceremonies at the grave In Forest Lawn
cemetery wero In charge of the Masons.
Rev. Mr. Mackay ; reviewed Judge
Strawn's llfo briefly and paid high tribute
to hla noble character. "Hit was a man ot
extremely nervous temperament and quick
to take offense and to rerent an insult."
said tho preacher. "He -vaa human. Liko
all other men. he bad his faults. But he
was honest and sincere. Ho lived up to the
high Ideals of Masonry and his church. He
was a thorough Christian gentleman."
A quartet, composed of Mrs. W. W
Turner, Mrs. Myron D. Smith, Jules Luin
bard and 1. C. Haz1ton. sang "Lead,
Kindly Light" and "By Cool Slloam's
Shady Rills." Thomas J. Kelly and J. E.
Butler presided at the organ during the
ceremonies.
Tho coffin was covered with sheaves of
American Beauty rosea anil surrounded by
many beautiful floral emblems. Mount
Calvary commandery of Knights Templnr
gave a handsome Maltese cross of white
rores. in which vsas a small passion cross
of rd roses. A keystone of white roses and
violets came from the Royal Arch chapter,
and tho nine lodge was represented by
square and compass of red roses and vio
lets. Judge Lee Eitelle. W. D. McIIugh. Iiiac
Congdon, Frank Ransom, Albert Swartz
