Dun & Co.'s Weekly Review of Trade tomorrow will say: The week In general business has been without striking new feature, but In this respect the outcome has ben favorable. Not one of the .trent Industries r"port3 nny scarcity of orders for goods, nnd Imsl- ncss is none nt prices wnicn sniw n sugni tendency to rise, except In textiles, which have been affected by the redu?tlon of from 10 to 20 per cent In the senson's open ing prices by the American Woolen com pany. This cut Is expected to bo indellnltely continued. Developments In tho money market, how ever, Indicate that the dry goods tra-la Is preparing for a reason of activity and the new woolen prices aro not lower than most buyers expected. There is nothing discouraging In tho slight decline In commodity prices from Jnnunry 1 to February 1, and rnllroad earn ings continue Inrge, Increasing 11 1 pe? cent for three weeks of January over last year and 26.2 per cent over 1899. New ork bank clearings for tho week gr.'ned 48.3 per cent over 1900 nnd outside New York the gain Is 10.8 per cent. There Is a loss of .4 per cent outside New York for tho week compnred with 1S99, but It 1.4 due to the fact that February settlements were Increased In that yenr While steel mills have contrncts on hard for their output from three to six monthn ahead, prices naturally rule firm. Few actual advances nre recorded, but thero is expectation of n higher figure scon for Ilcssemcr pig Iron, while rumors nro nu nvrous as to a rise In billets, platss and structural materials. All those lines show a brisk demand. Wool nnd Cotton Conditions. A sudden Increase In sales of wool nt the three chief emtern markets to 5.112,000 pounds, ngalmit 2,S93,IW In the previous week, does not appear Flgnltlcant. After such an unusually dull .'cason some recov ery was In order.
