riers' association to tho national conven
tion will leave Saturday evening for De
troit, Mich., where the convention will bo
held September 4. Tho delegation Is com
posed of Fred Jorgensen, Henry Leh
mann and N. Lundbcrg.
Detroit Is making active preparations for
the entertainment of tho visiting delega
tions. September 3 Is Labor Day, and It
will bo made memorable In the Michigan
city by one of tho largest parades of lot
ter carriers ever held In tho United States.
The postmaster gcnoral will review the
parade nnd will speak on Tuesday evening.
Tho Now York letter carriers' band will be
present during the entire proceedings.
Tho Chlcngo postmaster will attend and
with him will come 1,200 carriers who will
take part In tho parade. Tho local associa
tion will entertain the delegates on Labor
day and for this purpose n fund of 110,000
hns been raised.
The business of tho convention will
principally relate to the status of tho car
riers under tho laws of tho country, and an
attempt will be made to decide upon some
plan which will Insure tho passage of a
bill readjusting tho wages of tho carriers.
