HERE'S A MIX.
Two DroinluN Did Not Hear from the
Illulit ( llrl.
Tlicro Is a great mlx-up between two men
of the Twentieth 'Infantry ' at Camp Wlckoff ,
Montauk Point. Both arc Francis Joseph
Spring. Ono balls from Fltchburg , Mass , ,
and the other from Oil City , Pa. The
Massachusetts man Is a sergeant of Com
pany I. The Pennsylvania man Is a private
In Company M , On the papers of both ap
pears the same description , as they are aa
like as twins In size , build and coloring.
The likeness is carried still further on the
papers , as under the heading , "Name of
rather , " each has entered the name Arthur
Spring. There is , however , no relationship
between the men. Soon after the regiment
arrived hero Sergeant Spring began to gctj
very flattering letters from a young lady
living in a email Pennsylvania town , also
express packages , which were none the less
welcome for being unexpected. At the same
time Private Spring was deciding that ho
must bo a long-distance winner , because a
Massachusetts girl was writing to him In
n particularly affectionate strain nnd want
ing to know if there wasn't something eho
could send him. Private Spring thought of
a whole lot of things that he could use if
ho had them , but as the fair correspondent
had omitted to sign her last name it didn't
seem feasible to write for them. Presently
both Springs began to get letters complain
ing that no answers had been received to
questions asked in the writer's previous let
ters. At the height of the tangle Sergeant ,
Spring was walking along the road one day
when a comrade called his name. Ho and
another man ahead of him both walked back
asking what was wanted.
"Is your name Spring , too , asked the ser
geant.
"That's what , " replied the other man ,
"Francis Joseph Spring. "
"Well , that's me , too , " said the sergeant.
"Say , " ho added , as a thought struck him ,
"Do you get letters from a girl named Mol-
llo ? "
" ' " the other "not aa
"No , I don't , replied ,
many as I ought to. "
"I do , inoro than I ought to , " said the
sergeant. "I guess they're yours. "
"I've got some from Sarah that I'll traflo
for 'em , " offered the private , grinning.
" ' " the Massachusetts
"That's a go , agreed
man , and all was satisfactorily arranged ,
except for ! the contents of sundry packages ,
which had been devoured.
Now the two Springs meet every other day
and hold a mail exchange.
