At last the only remaining article ho had

mandolin , and dear though It was to him
on account of Its associations , the pangs
of hunger arc sharper than memories , and

ferson Davis , Jr. , was touched by the
breath of the disease. Nurses were scarce ,
and the young man's friends had to mil so
him. True to his friends even In times of
greatest danger , Herbert Landrum went to
the bedside of the son of the great man
whom all the south still loves and lionoia ,
though ho Is dead. Tor days Landrum was
