The public are familiar with the history of this garden spot of America beautiful Indian Territory , its unsurpassed climate , its grandly fertile - <
tile soil , crystal spring water , health giving mineral springs , its extensive coal fields , etc I will not occupy •
your time by rehearsing these accepted facts
MY OBJECT
| j Is to bring to your attention a few facts about the
1 * lusty young city , Columbia Its beauty does not con
sist of magnificent buildings , nor of its grand cathe
drals and churches , whose tall shapely spires give I
back to the sun his same look of red fire , whose cliitnI I
ing bells call the multitudes to prayer ; nor yet can we 8
boast of electric lights , electric railways , or its grand ! .
_ V hotels , theatres , parks or gardens But Columbia City
is beautiful because nature has given it one of the
grandest and most beautiful locations among the cities
of the earth In location and surroundings she stands
peerless , in the heart of the garden of the nation on
the picturesque divide between the north and south
branches of the Canadian rivers , about sixteen miles
southwest of Oklahoma City , and about the same dis
tance southeast of El Reno , on the S. E. J/ of Section
13 and N. E. tff Section 24 , all in Township (11) ( )
eleven , Range 6 West It is right in the midst of a
vast and immensely fertile agricultural region , sur
rounded by flourishing farms , whose thrifty owners are
farmers to the manor born , law abiding yeomen who
till their broad acres and live at home surrounded by
wife and children at peace with their neighbors With
such environments , Columbia City can not but be the
leading city of the territory
Do not be deceived by croakers who claim that
* f the farmers of Oklahoma do not spend six months of
/ \ their time upon their farms With the grandest clim-
K * Xatc on the big round globe and winters so mild that
I stock need no shelter , the farmer could not if he
wished find a more pleasant place to winter The facts
are that not five per cent of the farmers of Oklahoma ,
spend their winters off their farms , and in the years to
come and as the real beauties of this magnificent clim
ate become better known , it will become a winter re
sort for the people of frost bound Northern States
This region is fast becoming one of the most im
portant fruit growing regions in the Union The
farms in this favored region will produce grain and
vegetables of every kind , and the mineral resources
are unlimited Columbia City has sprung up in the
midst of this prolific and populous region as if by
magic With three great railroad systems passing
through it , Columbia City cannot fail to become an
important city Like Rome of old it is located upon a
hill with the beautiful panorama of plain and undulat
ing prairie lying all around her She is up where the
health-giving winds of heaven can chase away the
noxious vapors which in so many cities breed disease
and death By standing in the center of the public
park ( which you find marked in the center of the ac
companying plat ) , you can see eighty miles on a clear
day The atmosphere is so clear that the Comanche
mountains , eighty-five miles distant , do not appear
more than twenty miles distant From the Central
Park , in the center of the city of Columbia , Evarts
street , running north and south , and Peniston street ,
extending east and west , are each one hundred and
fifty feet wide , and the adjoining streets each one
hundred feet wide , making Columbia City the best
laid out city in America At the risk of repeating I
will again call your attention to the fertile farms , the
, - vast mineral fields , which will support and bring
wealth to this young city ; the sparkling springs of
" - • * pure water and the beautiful lakes abounding in fish ,
and whose broad waters will add health and pleasure
to the favored inhabitants of the New Eldorado of the
West

With running streams of water for the herds upon
the prairies , with three great railroads passing through
this city , including the great Rock Island with its four
thousand miles of road in operation , not a single mile
of this road passes through a barren country This
road was the first to appreciate the future of this terri
tory They have their tracks laid to El Reno , sixteen
miles from Columbia This is the great north and
south outlet for this region the Rock Island extend
ing to the seaboard at Galveston , Texas These arc
some of the important factors that will aid in the de
velopment and maintenance of this beautiful city
I Stop and ask yourself , where can I find such advan
tages as these all combined in any one city Pure
water , pure air , fertile soil , vast mineral resources , civ
ilized surroundings , with all the necessaries of life
raised right at home , with no severe winters , with rail
road facilities , provisions for schools and churches It
is the place for the farmer , the husbandman , the stock
raiser , the merchant or the man of pleasure A veri
table land of milk and honey We are ready to make
THE GRANDEST OFFER
that was ever made on this continent :
To the father who desires to leave to each of his
children a valuable piece of real estate in his own
right
lo the mechanic , lawyer , doctor , clerk , seamstress ,
servant , in fact , every person , either male or female ,
who has any desire to become the owner of a piece of
Gods foot stool , " we are ready to offer you a lot in
I this beautiful city at such a low price that will come
within the reach of all
DO YOU OWN A PIECE OF REAL
ESTATE ?
Every American citizen should be able to say : I
own in my own right a piece of this great American
continent Then why wait another day when yomcan
secure a lot , 66x130 feet , for the paltry sum of $10 , $15 ,
$20 , $25. and $ 0 ? Why hesitate another moment ?
Why allow another sun to rise before you become the
owner of at least one 66-foot lot in Columbia ? You
say : Suppose the town does not grown any larger ,
then the lots will never be worth any more Impossi
ble ! Point us out a spot in the United States where
the great railroads cross each other , with correspond
ing surrounding advantages with Columbia Citywhere
a large city has not grown up , and we will forfeit one
hundred dollars Do not wait until Columbia becomes
a city of ten thousand , for it will then take that many
thousand to buy the very lot you can get now for thirty
dollars Stop and think for a moment ; look back over
the few years you have lived , and count up the cities
I that have grown up on the barren prairie , where you
could have bought a lot for a few dollars You scoffed
the idea ; you jeered at those that had the courage and
foresight to buy ; they made a fortune on their small
investment , you are not one cent richer today
Do not deceive yourself still further , and think the world hns
Btoppud moving Do not think that eitioa will not spring up in the
future as in the past Do not think you are too late , benefit by your
past experience , and do not lot this opportunity pass without taking
advantage of it , if not for yourself , for your children's snko No matter
how young they nio , make each of thorn a present of at least one lot ,
and by the time they nro twonty-ono years of ago , these very lota will
bo worth a small fortune It would have been thus in your case , if
your father had invested a few dollars in some flourishing city and
given the lot to you In this way place your chlldrou on the stop
ping stone to fortune
A word of ndvico lo the young man who is working for a salary
I care not in what capacity Do not decerno yourself by waiting until
you got a few thousand dollars and then invest , as you will never got
the few thousand " Today you can spare from ton to thirty dollars ;
i est at oneo , and as Columbia grows your wealth will increase , and
before you know it , you have the few thousand you are looking for and
trying to aavo You have not boon ahlo to save It from your earnings ,
yet you hnyo it Where aid it' como from ? From the few dollars vou
invested in ColumDla Do not lot another day go by without souuring
a lot 111 Columbia , and bo happy
