If you're a UNL student remaining in
Lincoln this summer or if you're a
Lincolnite wondering what is going on
in your community this summer, the
Lincoln Community Playhouse, Kimball
Recital Hall and Pershing will offer
some entertaining relief from the heat
. Both the playhouse and Kimball will
be featuring fun, light plays in the
upcoming months.
Scapino, a comedy set in modern
day Naples, will be presented at the
Lincoln Community Playhouse from
June 22 through 30. Written by Frank
Dunlap and Jim Dale, it is an update of
the French dramatist Moliere's Scapine.
The plot involves the match of two
star-crossed lovers, said Ross McCul
lough, managing director of the play
house. "We were looking for some basically
light summertime entertainment, some
thing fun to see," McCuMough said.
Tryouts for Scapino are scheduled
for May 7 and 8. The playhouse's pro
diictkmcf Annie nrill runtkreughlt'ay.

light summertime entertainment. It is
a spoof of the roaring '20s, and the plot
is boy meets girL
"You don't like to get into real heavy
stuff over the summer," said Amy Mei
lander of Kimball promotions.
G reg Tailman will direct the play put
on by the UNL Music Theater group.
The cast will consist of UNL students
and two faculty members.
Julie Andrews starred in the Broad
way production of The Boyfriend, and
Twiggy starred in the movie.
Dates for the Kimball production
are June 30 and July 6-7, fill at 8 p.m.
Derek Anderson, events coordinator
at Pershing Municipal Auditorium, said
rclkrskating will be a steady feature b&
the auditorium this summer. Events'
scheduled include the North Central
Regional RoHerskating meet, June 17
through 24; the National Rcllerhockey
meet, July 2 through 7; and the USA
National Ro;ler:itin Championships,
July 23 through August 0.
Pershing's rcllcn&ating rink, a rarity
in VS. auditoriums, attracts the roller-
skating meets, Anderson said.
