Interfraternity Council
(IFC) Wednesday night elect
ed Greg Andrews new Af
fairs Committee Chairman,
replacing the outgoing chair
man Gary Larsen.
The Affairs Committee
Chairman coordinates Inter
fraternity activities, includ
ing the Interfraternity - Pan
hellenic "No-In-U" dance,
Greek Week in the spring,
and other Greek activities.
The IFC also approved the
addition of Section 7 of Ar
ticle III to the IFC By-Laws.
The change would provide
that if a man of at least sec
ond semester sophomore
standing desires to pledge but
does not have the required
2.0 average or its equivalent,
"he is eligible for pledging if
he has at least a 2.0 aver
age or its equivalent for each
of the past two consecutive
semesters." Summer school
would not count as a semes
ter, but would be included in
the two consecutive semest
er's average.
The new section will be
come effective immediately.
An addition to IFC By-laws,
Article II, Section 4, defining
dirty rush, was introduced at
the meeting.
The addition defines "dirty
rush" as "any untrue or de
rogatory comment or action
directed, either by name or
implication, at any fraternity
or group of fraternities."
The addition also states that
it "shall further be defined
as any action taken, in a rush
ing situation, that may be
deemed derogatory to the
Greek system as a whole."
Discussion on the matter
will be taken up at the next
regular IFC meeting.
It was also announced that
nomination for IFC President
would be open at the first IFC
meeting after vacation.
In other business, IFC Presi
dent Buzz Madsen pointed out
that today is the last day that
a man can be pledged and
still be initiated second semester.
