Spring Romance Tide Ebbs;
Only 3 Pinnings Announced

Monday night's campus street
party seemed to detract from the
usual spring pinnings, for there
were only three announced. Six
engagements have recently been
revealed.
Engagements
Borgaard-Backhaus
Announcement has been made
of the engagement of Dixie Bor-
gaard, Alpha Chi Omega, and
Murray Backhaus, Phi Gam. A
Junior in Home Ec, Dixie is from
.incoln. Murray is a junior in
Business Administration from

Lawrence-Oehlerking
A recent Chi O engagement is
that of Judy Lawrence to Dean
Oehlerking, Sig Ep. Judy is a
Teachers College sophomore
from Tekamah. A sophomore in
Engineering, Dean is from South
Sioux City. The wedding will
be July 2.

From Faculty
"Professor Snarf of the Uni
ersity of Nebraska" will be
elected by popular vote May 19
in a contest sponsored by Alpha
Phi Omega, boy scout fraternity.
The purpose of the contest is
to improve relations between the
faculty and the student body
and perhaps, if the contest is a
success to set up a campus tra
dition. NOMINATIONS OF p r o f e s-
sors most resembling the ficti
cious character of t h e cartoon
series will be accepted through
Friday. The professors will be
contacted and asked if they
would like to participate in the
contest. OOnce his cooperation
has been received, his nomin
ation will be made public. Each
nominee must be a bona fide
member of the University fac
ulty. The exact method of voting is
pending the approval of student
council. The winner of the con
test will be presented at the Al
pha Phi Omega banquet May
21, and presented with an en
graved plaque.
NU Music Fraternity To Present
Concert Of American Music Sunday
Sinfonia, national professional
music fraternity, will present its
annual spring concert Sunday at
4 p.m. in the Union Ballroom.
The public is invited to the
free program which will be
composed entirely of American
music.

chorus several small groups will
take part in the program. They

Dance Group Head
Jacy Mathieson, physical edu
cation major, was named new
president of Orchesis..in a recent
election. Miss Mathiesen is a
sophomore and a member of
Delta Gamma.
Jeannette Vollmer was elected
secretary of the organization.
She is a sophomore in Teachers
College and a member of Kappa
Delta. New secretary is Susan
Botsford, Teachers College major

Innocent's Brothers, Sister, Cousin
All Belong To Senior Honoraries

When Art Raun was tackled fdf
Innocents Saturday, he was follow
ing in a tradition which had been
established by two brothers, a sis
ter and a cousin who were all
members of the senior honoraries
Two brothers Ned and Robert
were both members of Innocents
society. A sister Joan and a cousin
Barbara were both Mortar Boards.
WHEN IN school, the Rauns par
ticipated in many Ag and city
campus activities. Three of them
served as either president or vice
president of Student Council.
Ned, 48 was president of the Ag
Executive Board; vice president of
Alpha Gamma Rho and Student
Council, and a member of Block
and Bridle Club, Varsity Dairy,
YMCA, Ag Union Board and Tri-K.
ROBERT, WHO graduated in
1951, was president of Student
Council, AGR, Ag Executive Board,
Block and Bridle Club and Inno
cents. He was also a member of
Kosmet Klub and Alpha Zeta. He
was awarded the Boucher award
as the senior with the highest ac
cumulated average.
Joan, 52, was president of Home
Ec Club, Goddess of Agriculture,
vice president of Chi Omega and
a member of Ag Executive Board,
Class Schedule Error
Explained By Dr. Foltz
David Foltz, chairman of the
department of music, announced
that through an error in printing
the fall class schedule, the meet
ing time and place of Chorus 91
under Earl Jenkins was listed
incorrectly.
He said that the class will meet
Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m.
in Room 24 Temple, instead of at
11 a.m., in Room 193 as is listed.
