eighth annual convention of the
Central States Provine of the New
man Club Foundation.
"Meeting the Challenge of our
Times" will be the theme of the
Catholic student organization's
meeting. States represented will
be Iowa, Illinois, ansas, Missouri
and Nebraska.
Highlights Series.
The convention will highlight
a series of forums and discussions
of delegates to formulate the
policy of the Newman Clubs of
the region for the next year.
The Rev. Frank McPhillips, na-

Harold J. Luchctel, president of
the five-state province, is in
charge of the organization of the
convention. He was one of Ne
braska's delegates to the same con
vention last year at the University
of Illinois.
Opens Friday,
The program will open Friday,

lains and students at the Corn
husker hotel and in the Union.
The main address will be given at
a dinner Saturday evening in the
Union Ballroom by Chancellor R
G. Gustavson.- His speech will be
the keynote of the convention
The program will end Sunday,
April li, with a tour of Boys

Advance ticket sale for the two
performances on April 19 of the
U.S. Navy band was reported
Saturday by Bill Oliver, Co-
chairman of the Lincoln Junior
Chamber of Commerce committee
arranging the band's concerts at
the University of Nebraska coli
seum.
Tickets are being sold by Jay-
cees and by members of Lincoln

The band, under the baton of
Lt. Cmdr. Charles Brendler, has
won critic and audience praise at
every stop on its annual snrinir
and summer tour.
Brendler enlisted in the navy
when he was only 15 and in a
years has played his way on a
clarinet to the highest rank ever
achieved by a navy musician.
Lincoln concert-goers have n
opportunity to help select the
program offered at the two mu
seum performances. Requests may
be sent to Commander Brendler
at the Naval Gun Factory, Wash
ington, D. C, and they will be
forwarded to him.
The band's repertoire includes
many old favorites, so there's a
good chance that requests handed
to the conductor before or even
during the concert, may be played
as an encore.
