The University Veterans or
Mnization has a slate of 1" can
didates for ten offices in its
spring election with balloting
scheduled for Wednesday evening,
May 21 from 6 to 9 o'clock in the
Y" rwm of the union, it was an
nounced today by Harvc Podoll,
public relations chairman.
Successful candidates will be
the new executive council and :
will take office at the beginning i
of the fall term with the present 1
council serving thru the summer.
N further nominations may bo
made but space is provided on the
ballot for write-in candidates.
The candidates whose names
will appear on the ballot with
their respective offices are: for
president, Keith Kittle and Dick
S i n s e 1; vice president. Bill
Brown, George Newcomb and
John Rigg: secretary. Margaret
Schorr and Clara Pappas; treas
urer. Martin Burgess: publicity
chairman. Jack Norman; housing
chairman. Arch Johnston; ag rep
resentative. Bill Podoll and Lulu
Hulf: social chairman, Jeanette
Sielaif and Eleanor Newcomb;
athletic chairman, Ray Sodergren;
and memhershiD chairman. Welta
Flint and Gene Howat.

spring term are eligible to vote
any time from 6 to 9 o'clock next
Wednesday evening.

Veterans under Public Law 16

summer school unless excused by
the Veterans Administration. Pub
lic Law 16 veterans who do not
receive prior approval from the
Veterans Administration for non
attendance at Summer School will
not be re-enrolled under the pro
visions of Public Law 16 for the
fall semester of 1947-1948 until
they have received such approval
from the Veterans Administration
Warning.
Any Public Law 16 veteran
who wishes to absent himself
from Summer School should re
port immediately tq the training
officer of the veterans Adminis
tration at Brvan School. 19th and
Q streets, (unless he has already
done so) and ask lor sucn permis
sion.
The above does not aDDly to
veterans under Public Law 346
(The G. I. Bill). Veterans under
Public Law 346 may absent them
selves from summer school, if
they so desire.

Rodgers Elected
AVC Chairman
Paul Rodgers, Jr., arts and
sciences sophomore, was elected
chairman of the university chap
ter of the American Veterans
Committee at a special election
meeting which was held Tuesday
evening in the Union.
James Kile was named vice
chairman, while Gerald Roesler
and Peter Beelak assumed the
posts of treasurer and secretary,
respectively.

have their eye on certain events
in the field.
With the addition of Colorado
to the Big Six all present mem
bers had better be alert when the
Mountain boys come to town. Col
orado has already served notice
of her strength in several depart
ments with decisive wins over
Nebraska in baseball and track
this year. The Colorado entry will
offer fine competition in all sports
and the outcome should be for a
better conference in the future.
The Big Six next year will be
dominated by Nebraska coaches.
Kansas has the great George
Sauer, Kansas State his signed
Sam Francis to lead activities for
them, and we have Bernie Master
son to coach the Huskers. As we
reminisce we should not overlook
Lloyd Cardwell, who is holding
down a stiff job at Omaha U.
