Now just a moment, before you read any more of this let me ask "you if you've read the funnies yet today? If not, I think you might enjoy "Lena the Hyena or 'Gargles" more than this. Just in case some persistent fools are still scanning this, I'll tell you that this is a humour col umn. Henceforth, I'll expect you to laugh hilariously when you read this. As a matter of fact, I'll pay a dime for each face that is covered with a silly grin while reading my stuff and two-bitsfor each genuine laugh at my wit. Why do I call this Bill's Due? (Somebody did ask, I trust.) I was spawned on the first day of the month just as all the windowed-envelopes arrived, and I'm not paid for yet. My poor old stray-haired mother grew mush rooms in our cellar in order to support me for my first 21 years. Since then, my rich Uncle Sugar has been aid.'ng and abetting my delinquency. When I arrived on this already troubled sphere, helpful friends of the family suggested that my mother should have thrown away the baby and kept the stork. I don't see as it would have made any difference. The stork is de fined as the bird with the big bill anyway. Ordinarily, the only thing the obstetrician and the stork have in common is the size of their bill. The doctor didn't get any money from my parent. He was sued for misrepresentation. One of my admirers has sug tested that I was named Bill be cause I'm a collector's item. If there are any shapely, feminine Bill collectors on the campi of L'niversitas Nebraskensis, how ever,'! may be located in my of fice at the Legion Club. They enough so that I can lean on it haven't procured a swivel chair for me yet, but my desk is high comfortably while standing. I guess this tripe is all dun for Bill today. Tune in tomorrow for another spine-chilling chapter of my autobiog-aphy entitled, "Life goes to college but will college ever come to life?"
