CLUB PLANS EMBLEM
L
Tassels Propose Union With
Manhattan, Lawrence
Organizations.
Choice of a suitable emblem and
name for a national pep organiza
tion for women, begun last year by
Tassels, was discussed at the Tas
sels meeting held Tuesday night at
Ellen Smith hall.
Three women's pep groups, those
of Kansas State Agricultural col
lege and Kansas State university
together with the Nebraska Pep
club, will form the nucleus of this
national organization. The three
groups n.et in Lincoln last spring
at the suggestion of Tassels, and
Anne Bunting was elected presi
dent of the national organization.
To Submit Emblem.
Tassels voted to submit to the
other two schools their emblem,
which is a triangle, with the addi
tion of the letters Lambda Alpha
Sigma in the corners. With a fav
orable vote from the Kansas Aggie
and Kansas U clubs, this emblem
will become the insignia of the na
tional group.
A constitution of seven articles
for national control drawn up by
Tassels under the chairmansnip oi
Alice Quigle was submitted to the
Student council at its meeting
Wednesday night by Jane Young
son, Tassels president, and will be
reported upon at the next Student
council meeting.

(Continued from Page 1).
The measure provides for the sala
of tickets to visiting students of
the Big Six schools who have ath
letic tickets of their own school at
special rates.
Plan Co-operative Action.
The plan also suggests co-operative
action to secure special rates
and special trains to out of town
games within the Big Six. Infor
mation offices where visiting stu
dents may register and secure
housing accommodations at fra
ternities and sororities is also part
of the plan. The proposal was re
ferred to Jack Erickson for pre
sentation to the Athletic Board.
The council voted not to affiliate
with the National Student School
federation and it was suggested
that Nebraska concentrate its ef
forts in the organization of Big
Six student councils.
Other things decided by the Stu
dent council at the meeting were:
The revised constitution of the En
gineering Executive board and the
Girls' Commercial club were ap
proved; the council will supervise
the Kosmet Klub's "Nebraska

SIIOUER OF LEONID
METEOR TO APPEAR
ON MONDAY NIC I IT
Prof. Collins Sends Out
Majts of Areas for
Record of Path.
According to Prof. O. C. Collins
of the observatory the Leonid me
teor display which occurs only
once in thirty-three years, is ex
pected to occur on or about next
Monday, Nov. 14. In 1833 this dem
onstration was seen first in a bril
liant scene, in 1866.it was again
seen, although in less brilliance,
and it occurred again in 1899.
These flying particles, often
wrongly called shooting stars, ra
diate from the sickle of the con
stellation Leo, thus the name. The
Leonid display Ls especially bright
because the meteors enter the at
mosphere of the earth at the rate
of 40 or 50 miles a second. They
become luminous when about 100
miles from the surface of the
earth, and burn themselves out
after proceeding about sixty miles
further to the forty mile line.
To Designate Number.
Mr. Collins sent out maps of the
sky as it is seen as one faces east
so that anyone interested might
record the path of the particles,
the time of appearance, place from
which they started, and place of
disappearance. He also requested
that these persons designate on
the maps which they send in the
number of meteors seen during
each fifteen minute interval.
These figures are being compiled
in order that the figures as to the
distance from earth, the point of
radiation, and other such computa
tions might be checked.
