the Memorial stadium track.

Storey, Ostergard and Rodgers to
clinch victory for the Scarlet and
keep the dual record spotless.
England, Nebraska, and Mell,
Oklahoma, ran almost a dead heat
in the leadoff lap, but a poor ex
change of the baton and some fine
running by Abbott of Oklahoma
almost spelled defeat for the
Huskers. Abbott had a twenty-five
yard lead on Storey when Bob

Nebraska anchor man a few yards

better performances, especially in
the pole vault, where the runway

PLAY KANSAS TUESDAY
The University of Nebraska ten
nis team opened its Big Six sea
son rather lamely Saturday, drop
ping a 6-0 decision to the power
ful Oklahoma nctters. The matches
were played in the university coli
seum because of the rain.
Although the Huskcr represen
tatives played well and fought
stubbornly, their Inexperience
proved too much of a handicap
against the seasoned Sooner vet
erans. It was the final dual of
the season for the Oklahomans.
Wilbur Hacgcn, ranking player
of the Husker squad, offered
spirited opposition to Charlie
Davis, Oklahoma star, before
losing 6-4. 6-1. Haegen led 3-1
in the first set, but Davis staited
rifling his shots to the corners to
pull out with the set. The Sooner
ace used a smashing volleying
game in the final set.
Ellery Davis gave Sessions a
warm argument in one of the
singles encounters, finally suc
cumbing under a 6-3. 6-4 score.
Robert Mario could not get started
against McPhail. the latter tri
umphing 6-3, 6-1.
Joe Miller went down 6-4, 6-2
before Shoftall after an interest
ing battle.
In the doubles, Mario and Went
worth Fling bowed 6-3, 6-4 to Mc
Phail and Sessions, while the Okla
homa duo of Davis and Shoftall
had little trouble with Haegen and
Davis, winning 6-2, 6-2.
Tuesday, the Huskers meet the
University of Kansas team cap
tained by Junior Coen, national
ranking player. The matches will
be played at the Lincoln Tennis
club courts. Summary:
