Srotlsbliiff In Group IV. Gothen
biiig in Group III. Bassett in
roup II. and IVWitt in Group 1
were winners In the twenty-eighth
annual state high school tiack
meet held Friday and Saturday on
the stadium tiack. Over a thou
sand prep school athletes were
brought to Lincoln for the meet,
which attiacted the laigest list of
entries ever to participate In the
annual affair.
Omaha Tech and Lincoln pushed
Scotlshluff hard for honors, there
being only two and a half points
difference' between the three teams.
Shower Halts Meet.
The meet was halted for a time
Saturday afternoon when a
drenching rain poured down upon
the stadium track leaving water
inches deep in several places. Run
ning events were postponed for
one hour while the pole vault, high
jump, and shot put were started
inside the east stadium. In spite
of the soaking, the track was not
as soft as might have been ex
pected, and several good marks
were made although no records
were broken.
Lambertus, Gothenburg low
hurdler, clipped some time off the
old state record, but was unable to
better his mark of 24.3 established
Friday afternoon in the prelim
inaries. Ayres, Lincoln distance
runner, and Asher, Scotlshluff boy
who holds the state record in the
half mile, staged two beautiful bat
tles in the half and the mile, with
Asher winning both events with a
scant margin. The Scottsbluff
distance runner passed up the
opportunity to try for a new record
in the half in order that he mipht
contribute more points to the
cause of winning Group IV.
An ndded attraction of Hie ineel
was the officiating of Jackson
Soholtz. Olympic 200 meters cham
pion, who served as starter and
referee.

activities a man derives a treat

college publications than anything
else. In the first place, you learn
to write. I don't believe there is
any one thing in business that Is

Business Training Good.
"In addition to the writing one
receives on the editorial side of a
publication, I think that the train
ing on the business side is equally
as g:ood. An advertsing solicitor
on a student publication meets re
tail merchants and many oilier
business men and undoubtedly
gains a lot of valuable experience."
In .'peaking of courses taken at
the tiniversity the former editor
said. "I think that my experience
as editor of The Daily Nebraskan
has befn very valuable to me. I
also feci that the journalism
courses at the University of Ne

I consider Mr. Lawrence exceed
ingly well qualified for his position

him. In addition to the courses in
journalism, I believe that litera
ture courses, such as comparative
literature courses formerly offered
by Dean Buck, are very valuable."
