The meet was halted for a time Saturday afternoon when a drenching rain poured down upon the stadium track leaving water inches deep in several places. Run ning events were postponed for one hour while the pole vault, high jump, and shot put were started inside the east stadium. In spite of the soaking, the track was not as soft as might have been ex pected, and several good marks were made although no records were broken. Lambertus, Gothenburg low hurdler, clipped some time off the old state record, but was unable to better his mark of 24.3 established Friday afternoon in the prelim inaries. Ayres, Lincoln distance runner, and Asher, Scotlshluff boy who holds the state record in the half mile, staged two beautiful bat tles in the half and the mile, with Asher winning both events with a scant margin.
