hurled the Huskers to victories over
the University of Missouri last week.
Tho Pikers will prove strong con

pitchers who they used in these two
contests against Ames let the Aggies
down witli two hits in each contest.
The heavy hitting Cornhusker hit

The committee for electing the stu

HI6H SCHOOLERS FALL

Freshman Outclass Interscho
lastic Team and Win by 8
to 2 Score Lang
Pitches.
In n practice game at Rock Island
field Thursday afternoon, the Fresh
man baseball team outclassed the
Lincoln High diamond artists with a
score of 8 to 2.
The Cornliusker freshmen nine
had its opponents outclassed from
tho beginning of the contest. Lang,
on the mound for the Freshman, al
lowed only five hits, while Lewis o
the Links allowed several times that
amount.
Captain "Jug" Brown of the Lin
coin high team made the longest hit
of the game. His was a three bagger
on which he allowed a man on base
to reach home and later scored hir
self. .
The Freshman lineup was: P. Lanr
pitch; E. Lang, catch; Griffith, first
hase; Morgan, second base; Extrom
third base; Zavodny, right field; Hay.
center field; Andre, right field; V:
ley, shortstop. During the latter
part of the game- Sheldon, Pickett
and Randolph were substituted in
the outfield.
Jack Dempsey 19 quoted as saying
that he would rather relinquish his
title than play a game of football.
He saw the Tenn State and Califor
nia game at Pasadena. The gridiron
may be large but he said that there
was plenty t f room for him in the
twenty-four foot ring and the mashing
cf human skulls was not as good
music as the padded glove on a part
ners nose. Tom Gibbons from St
Paul has no love for football and
considers the fistic game much
tamer. Thus it is with all the boxing
champs. They think that if there is
to be any reform made in the rough
sports, it had bettor be made in the
major inter-collegiate game.
