Chancellor George II. Bradford, of
the Methodist University of Oklahoma,
will speak at the Oliver, t3naday, Jan
uary 23, at 3:30 o'efock, on "A Look
Through the Album." Fred H. Itindge,
jr., also will deliver a brief address.
The Students' Chemistry club will
have the Cornhusker picture taken on
Saturday, January 22, at noon, at
Townsend's studio. All students in
terested in chemistry and abovo the
Freshman year are urged to be present.
The January meeting of Sigma Xi
will be held Thursday night, January
20, in M. E. 206, at 8 o'clock. Prof.
G. D. Swezey will speak on "Recent
Investigations in Astronomy,'' and
Prof. Lawrence Bruner will give
"Some Remarks on the Insect Fauna
of the Philippine Islands."
A luncheon will be given Saturday
noon in the Banquet room of the Tem
ple building, under the auspices of
the Y. M. C. A. All men, especially
engineers, invited. Mr. Fred H. Rindge
Secretary of the Industrial Service
Movement, will speak on the "Human
Side of Engineering," as related to Y.
M. C. A. work. The price of the lunch
eon will be 25 cents.
PERSONAL
J. C. Beard, 1915, has been elected
secretary of the Commercial club at
Atlantic, la. Atlantic is a place with
a population of between 5,000 and
6,000 and the club, which was organ
ized several months. Mr. Beard
will take charge February 1. He came
to Nebraska from South Dakota. He
is a member of Thi Alpha Tau, the
public speaking organization and dur-
ine his last semester was editor in
chief of the Daily Nebraskan. He was
also interested in dramatics while in
the University and was a member of
the cast for the "Sunken Bell," the
Senior Dlay last year. For several
months he was a member of the edi
torial staff of the State Journal. Fol
lowing a short visit in Lincoln, Mr.
Beard will go to Atlantic to begin
work.

January 17. Mrs. Hewitt was for
.,.i,, iwua Marearet Guthrie and was
graduated at the University in 1911.
Mr. Hewitt is an alumnus of the law
college, class of 1904.
