Mrs. H. E. Guy , wife of the agent at
ZVauneta , was here , Monday , ou a little
shopping excursion.
1V. P. Foreman came down front Den-
ver. Wednesday evening , on an auditing
trip to this station.
C. T. Watson , local manager for the
Western Union , will resume his position
on next Monday morning.
Mrs. S. L. Moench attended the district -
trict Endeavor convention at Alma , last
of past week , as a delegate from the Mc-
Cook society.
Misses OraVltitnian and Matnie Tom-
linson of Oxford were guests of W. S.
Tomlinson , this week , coining up on
Monday evening.
Mrs. J. W. Holliday was down from
Lyons , Colorado , close of the past week ,
looking after some improvements to be
made on their north Main avenue resi-
dence.
Deputy State Auditor P. 0. Hedlund
visited with F. G. Westland , last Sunday.
Mr. Hedlund is one of the candidates
for state auditor iii the coming conven-
tion.
Count Hulaniski , formerly the genial
Burlington agent at this station , is now
living in Ouray , Colorado , where he has
a brother in the newspaper business ,
publisher of the Silverite Plaindealer.
Station Agent Morrissey is making an
effort to start a Star of Jupiter lodge at
this place. The order is a young one
but very substantial , being composed of
the most solid business men of McCook.
-Holbrook Herald.
A wreck occurred on the southern division -
vision of the Burlington , near Liberty in
Gage county , Monday morning , in which
Engineer Brennan and Conductor Wilson
were both killed. A heavy rain had undermined -
dermined the culvert and when the engine -
gine reached the point it was thrown off
the track , the dead men being caught
and pinioned under the locomotive. The
fireman escaped by jumping from the
locomotive.
To California in a Tourist Sleeper.
The Burlington Route personally conducted -
ducted once-a-week excursions to Colorado -
rado , Utah and California are just the

AMERICA needs less "patriotism" and
"jingoism" and more good hard business
sense-if anybody asks you.
WITH postal savings banks in operation -
tion millions of dollars would have been
saved to the poor of the country during
the present hard times and numerous
bank failures over the land. What better -
ter argument need there be for the establishment -
tablishment of such banks by the gov-
ernment.

man's , last Thurday evening , was well
attended.
Willie Barnes is working for Charles
Boatman instead of Nellie Barnes , as
stated in our last.
Eugene Dunham , a bronclto and saddle -
dle got badly mixed up , one day last
week. Dunham struck the ground with
more force than elegance , and the saddle
was badly used up. The broncho came
out of the wreck all right.

this week.
Corn planting is nearly finished.
Thomas Pinkerton is overhauling Matt
Stuart's windmill wreck.
Quarterly meeting for this circuit will
be held at Red Willow on Saturday and
Sunday.
George Hanlein arrived home from
the Pacific coast on April 28th and is renewing -
newing his acquaintance at this place.
Rev. E. J. Vivian and wife were in
Dundy county , the first of the week , on
business and pleasure bent. Rev. Morris -
ris occupied the pulpit during his ab-
sence.

Everist's school section and will assist
on the ranch , this season.
