N. J. Johnson is getting to the front witl
haying. He has several large ricks and the
finest meadow in the west.
Our Sabbath school is to reorganize , nex
Sunday. We hope everybody will come , a
it is too soon to think of closing.
Mr. Farnsworth says that we have as good
crops as there are west of the Missouri Eive
and we are in Ked Willow county.
We notice that the young folks , are taking
a great interest in THE TRIBUNE since ihej
can hear from all parts of the county.
Jt is now time to make hay. The grass i
getting dry and we hope our farmers will no
forget to guard against fires before the groiuu
gets too dry to plow.
There are only a few in our part that do

subscribe soon that the editor may say we
are solid on the subscription list.
HARTLEY BOOMINGS.
The safe arrived yesterday and the
bank will soon be in operation , which wil
fill a long felt want.
The citizens are making extensive prepara
rations for Campmeeting to commence nex
Fiiday , the 20th , and continue ten days.
A quartette of singers under Pi of. Warlej
of York who are traveling for the benefit o
the Mallallieu univesity will give a concert a
this place on the evening of the 21st.
Mr. Mubber.the energetic brick contractor
welcomed his family to their new home , a
few days ago , and other families are moving
in as fast as houses can be built for them.
The first funeral occurred last Thursday
when Mr. and Mrs. McKiney were calle
upon to bury their infant son. They have
the sympathy of the entire community in
this sad bereavement.
The proverbial magic growth of westen
towns is tully demonstrated at Bartley ,
which in eight weeks growthshows abotii

forty buildings finished and 'in course of
erection. One large brick block already
above ground and another of the same size to
be commenced soon.
Hardware is handled by Way & Peter-
man , General Merchandise by Bartley Van-
derlinder & Co. , Groceries by Green & Son
Eskey is proprietor of a neat Drag Store
and Palmer is handling boots and shoes.
And other lines of business will be opened as
soon as the buildings can be completed.REX.

H. IL Pickens sports a new harness.
rKeport says that N. Burtless has sold out.

Chas. Smith and wife came down from the
Medicine on a short visit , last Thursday.
Joe Muudal came down from Curtis , last
\veek , to put up his hay. He returned , last
Tuesday.
Several friends and relatives of Joe Schmit
from Otoe county , this state , arc out here
looking for land.
Lloyd Hileman and family have moved
back again. He is building a new frame
liouse on his pre-emption.
Lewis Fauss and Jim Henning have been
indulging in the luxury of a few gentlobron-
ihos. Jim has also purchased a new Jack
son wagon.
It is wonderful how much cheek some peo
ple possess in this country. We know of a
fellow who considers himself a pretty good
man , who has been cutting hay from land he
knew he had no shadow of a right to. One
jf the parties owning the hay has moved
back east , so the gentleman thinks he can
inirsue his course there at least unmolested.

NORTH DIVIDE DOTS.
Did any one say it was hot ?
Miss Emma Hanlein returned from her
t'isit to Kansas , the first of last week.
Crops are looking very well , still a little
rain would help , especially the com , as the
; ars are not filling as well as they ought.
We believe this part of the county is ahead
is far as dancing-is concerned. We manage
: o have at least one a week and often two or
: hree up on this Divide.Ve hope they are
ill enjoyed.
Another one of those interesting and eujoy-
ible surprise parties was held at the house
) f Wm. Johnson , in honor of Mrs. Johnson's
19th birthday. Every thing passed off pleas-
mtlv and all went away feeling that they
lad been well entertained. JASOX.
It would be for the interest of Chase
bounty to make arrangement for a good xe-
jresentation in the way of agricultural pro-
iucts at the district fair held at McCook.
Dhase county has products sufficient to make
m exhibit second to none of the counties of
southwestern Nebraska. Let the matter
