The threshers report crops much bette here than in Kansas. The Danbury nine carried the day at the ball ground , last Friday. Everybody is working the roads now and the best road to McCook will soon be com pleted. Mr. Creager of Kansas was on the bal ground with a fine assortment of melons last Friday. Mr. Duckworth's horse made the fastes time on the track , last Friday , being X mile in 28 seconds. S. B. Coltrain will make final proof on hi claim , Saturday , his advertisement will b seen in TIIE TKIBUXE. N. J. Johnson is getting to the front witl haying. He has several large ricks and the finest meadow in the west. Our Sabbath school is to reorganize , nex Sunday. We hope everybody will come , a it is too soon to think of closing. Mr. Farnsworth says that we have as good crops as there are west of the Missouri Eive and we are in Ked Willow county. We notice that the young folks , are taking a great interest in THE TRIBUNE since ihej can hear from all parts of the county. Jt is now time to make hay. The grass i getting dry and we hope our farmers will no forget to guard against fires before the groiuu gets too dry to plow. There are only a few in our part that do not take TIIE Tiuuun : . The safe arrived yesterday and the bank will soon be in operation , which wil fill a long felt want. The citizens are making extensive prepara rations for Campmeeting to commence nex Fiiday , the 20th , and continue ten days. A quartette of singers under Pi of. Warlej of York who are traveling for the benefit o the Mallallieu univesity will give a concert a this place on the evening of the 21st. Mr. Mubber.the energetic brick contractor welcomed his family to their new home , a few days ago , and other families are moving in as fast as houses can be built for them. The first funeral occurred last Thursday when Mr. and Mrs. McKiney were calle upon to bury their infant son. They have the sympathy of the entire community in this sad bereavement. The proverbial magic growth of westen towns is tully demonstrated at Bartley , which in eight weeks growthshows abotii i forty buildings finished and 'in course of erection. One large brick block already above ground and another of the same size to be commenced soon. Hardware is handled by Way & Peter- man , General Merchandise by Bartley Van- derlinder & Co. , Groceries by Green & Son Eskey is proprietor of a neat Drag Store and Palmer is handling boots and shoes. And other lines of business will be opened as soon as the buildings can be completed.REX. REX. SOUTH-SIDE LOCALS. H. IL Pickens sports a new harness. rKeport says that N. Burtless has sold out. He returned , last Tuesday. Several friends and relatives of Joe Schmit from Otoe county , this state , arc out here looking for land. Lloyd Hileman and family have moved back again. He is building a new frame liouse on his pre-emption. Lewis Fauss and Jim Henning have been indulging in the luxury of a few gentlobron- ihos. Jim has also purchased a new Jack son wagon. It is wonderful how much cheek some peo ple possess in this country. We know of a fellow who considers himself a pretty good man , who has been cutting hay from land he knew he had no shadow of a right to. One jf the parties owning the hay has moved back east , so the gentleman thinks he can inirsue his course there at least unmolested. UNO. NORTH DIVIDE DOTS. Did any one say it was hot ? Miss Emma Hanlein returned from her t'isit to Kansas , the first of last week. Crops are looking very well , still a little rain would help , especially the com , as the ; ars are not filling as well as they ought. We believe this part of the county is ahead is far as dancing-is concerned. We manage : o have at least one a week and often two or : hree up on this Divide.Ve hope they are ill enjoyed.
