THE Cambridge Labor Liberator has
flopped over into the great unwashed ,
and will in the sweet subsequently be
known to fame as the Pumas Counly
Democrat. Another battery unmasked
THE Furnas County Democrat wants
to turn the rascals out. This recent ex
ponent of Bourbonism in the fullness o'
his demagogery exclaims : "If hell i * >
paved with good intentions shonl is linec
with broken party promises and the da\
and hour is now here in which to shou
our knowledge of the fact and that we
cannot be longer deceived.5' "Come one
and all and help to "Turn the rascals
out. " -
THE Republican victory is not to be
credited to the virtues of the Republi
can managers , but to the pins of the De
mocracy. The .Republicans possessed
no elements of strength , either in lead
ership or policy , that they did not have
two years ago ; but the election of a
Senator by Standard Oil wealth and the
dictation of party affairs by the McLean
ring has been more than the people of
Ohio would stomach. The election is
a rebuke to corporate domination , ring
management and political corruption ,
and as such it is a verdict which will lie
approved by all independent and honest

ONE of the most atrocious deeds ever
committed in this fair commonwealth oc
curred near Waco , last Saturday , when
when and where a phenomenal fiend
named Brandt was running'a threshing
machine. A young boy nf thirteen sum
mers , who was cutting bands , accident
ally cut .Brandt's hand. This so enrag
ed Brandt that he threatened to run the
boy through the machine if the offense
was repeated. The boy became excited
and nervous , and in a few moments did
again slightly cut Brandt , who seized
the boy and threw him headlong into
the cylinder. The boy was horribly
mangled and instantly killed. A speedy
action by Judge Lynch would fit the
case , admirably.

Downcs , the Boston clergyman who was
accused of too much familiarity with a
female parishioner , his oficnsii was of
the most trivial character , lie was mere
ly making a pastorial call , and while
talking with the lady concerning a trip
she was contemplating , he pulled off his
coatj unbuttoned hi.s vest , turned down
the gus and sat beside her on , the bed
' 30 as to lower the temperature of the
room. " lie docsen't remember whether
he removed his slioen or not. JKighty-
ninc of the brethren and sisters said it
was all right by voting to dismiss the
case against him. However , a smail ma
jority voted with the lady's husband the
other way , and the Rev. Downcs had

school in McCook on the Gth and 7th of

J. J. Irwin , who , has been in thy B. & M.
telegraph oflice at this place , a few days , went

J. L. Brush of Grccley , Colo. , one of the
most extensive stockmen in that locality , was
registered at the Eating House , Tuesday.
Mr. Brush was on his way home from Chica
go , whither he recently shipped a number of
car-loads of steers.
Mrs. Jos. Mcnard and youngest daughter ,
Ahuec , started for Chicago on Xo. 40 , Tues
day evening. Mrs. Mcnard Avill remain two
or three months , while the little one will
probably remain longer , attending a private
school for thoe afflicted with dumbness , and
living with her grand-parents.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McXeely of St. Joe , Mo. ,
who have been" visiting in our city for the
past weck.startcd for their home , this morn
ing. Mr. McNeely is largely interested in
our city and vicinity , and is now erecting a
handsome business house on one of his lob
on Main Avenue. He informs us that in the
spring he will erect two more business"house.s ,
on West Dennison street. I le has great con-
lidence hi McCook's future ami is greatly
pleased with the growth during the past year.
