' VETERAN TEACHER Instructor in Bluffs High Schools Since 1896; Fx-Legislator. J. C. Grason, 67, 14 South First street, instructor in the Council Bluffs high schools since 1896, died Thurs day evening in a Rock Springs (Wyo.) hospital after he had been removed from a train on which he was return ing to Council Bluffs from Eos Angeles. Mr. Grason. who has been head of I he commercial department at the high school for many years, had been In ill health since last winter, but it had been believed that he was re covering. Given Year's Reave. Mr. Grason was granted a year's leave of absence when his health failed last January, and a month ago he went to California with Mrs. Grason to visit a son. “When return ing, ho became ill on the train and was removed at Rock Springs after lie had fallen into a coma. Mrs. Grason was with him. During his long service at Abraham IJncoln High school, he was a favorite with the hundreds of students who were enrolled in his classes. He was rarely, absent from his classes. Elected lo legislature. Mr. Grason was elected to the Town slate legislature In 1915 and served nn 111 1917. lie was a leader in the fight for the teachers' annuity bill, which lost by a narrow margin. He is survived by his wife and two sisters, by three sons, Rollin of Kansas City, Charles of Council Bluffs and Joseph of Los Angeles, ..and by three daughters, Mrs. Eunice Ward of Dundalk, Md.; Mrs. Emma Shedd of Aurora, Neb., and Mrs. Harry Ratekln of Council Bluffs. Mrs. Grason will bring the body to Council Bluffs Friday for burial. Fu neral arrangements have not yet been completed. OMAHA AUTOIST HELD IN BLUFFS O. A. Fitlman, 528 South Twenty-| sixth street, Omaha, was arrested for reckless driving by Council Bluffs police Thursday night when his ma chine crashed into one driven by it. J. Heelon, 1428 1-2 South Sixteenth street, Omaha, at. the end of toe South avenue paving. Both cars wcic badly damaged. An automobile driven by C. 3. Head, 1600 Avenue G. Council Bluffs, collided with a machine driven by Jess Stem, 133<TSixth avenue, at Thir teenth street and Sixth avenue Thurs day night. Damage was slight to both cars. B. M. Downes, 204 Fourth street. Council Bluffs, reported the theft of his automobile from In front of his home Thursday night. MOTORIST TO BE — TRIED AT LOGAN George Stodgel, charged with rlriv-1 ing a car while intoxicated, will prob ably be released by Pottawattamie county authorities to officers of Har rison county in order that he may be tried at Logan, la.. Monday on a charge of assault with intent to com mit rmtnler.
