Civil War Vet, Shocked at Wife's Death, Also Dies 15 Minutes Later >■ j Special Dispatch to The Omaha Bee. Atlantic, la., Aug. 22.—Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Stewart of Griswold died within 15 minutes of each other, due to excitement at a G. A. R. celebra tion. Mrs. Stewart, In company with friends, was preparing to attend a speech by Lieutenant Governor John Hammill, republican gubernatorial candidate. She became suddenly ill and died before medical aid could reach her. She had suffered from heart disease for several years. The shock of his wife’s death proved fatal within a few minutes to Mr. Stewart, who also was a sufferer from heart disease. Police Seek Boy. O. N. Newton, 521 South Twenty ninth street, has asked police to search for his son, Oscar, 14, who left home Wednesday. J. Connell Will Demands Payment of Hospital Notes $500,000 Estate to Children; $9,500 Annual Income to Descendants for 99 Years. W. J. Connell. Omaha attorney, left nn estate said to total close to $500, 000, principally to his four children and their children, in a seven-page will filed In probate court Friday. The will was made on hie 78th birth day. A striking feature of It is contained In the final page titled "Debts and Obligations," In which he directs that certain m.tee held by the Merchants and Omaha National banks against the Presbyterian hospital, operated until recently by his son, Dr. Karl Connell, shall be paid off within 90 days by Karl. They were endorsed by Mr. Connell. Unless he does this and thus re lieves the estate of any liability the bequests to him are to be null and void. "During over 60 years In Omaha I have never owed a debt I did not ray. This record I want to be main tained,” says the will. Equally Divided. Undivided one fourth Interests in the estate, after special bequests have been paid, are given ns follows: Dr. Karl Connell, son; Mrs. Marlon Creighton, daughter; Mrs. Hazel Ray mond, Lincoln, daughter; and one fourth to Florence Brown and Helen Connell, children of his deceased son, Ralph. To these the Income of $9,500 a year on property In Hlllcrest Is to be paid as It comes In, and to their chil dren and descendants for the entire life of the lease, 99 years. He gives his law library and office furniture and fixtures to his daugh ter, Mrs. Creighton, "In trust for each one or more of her sons, John D., Edward and Billy, as may become lawyers.” Until they may require these things, his nephew, Herbeil. Is to have use of them. $1,000 to Secretary. A bequest of $1,000 Is made to Bessie Janes, his "faithful, reliable and efficient secretary for 16 years.” Herbert Connell, his nephew, re ceives $500. Howard Malcolm Baldrlge and his wife, Regina Connell Baldrlge, receive $500 each. His eight grand children and one great grandchild are also bequeathed $500 each. His two sons-ln-law, Edward Creigh ton of Omaha, and Isaac Raymond of Lincoln, are named executors.
