Evanston, 111., Aug. 22.—Policeman Benjamin Delaney of Cicero, charged with assault with intent to kill Ro setta (Topsy) Duncan, was today or dered held for the grand Jury by Jus tice Henry Williams In the local po lice court. Another crowd gathered In the po Uc station court room today when prosecution and defense closd thlr ar gumnts In th case, which had Its I origin last July 4, when the Duncan sisters and friends were arrested for I , violating a traffic signal as they were returning from the Hawthorne races. In ordering Delaney held. Judge Williams said: "In view of the fact that Miss Duncan’s hands were hid when she was struck a serious blow, I am forced to hold this defendant for a grand Jury investigation." Police Wldlock of the Cicero force tvas held for grand Jury action on a similar churge several days ago. Oth er charges of assault and battery are pending against both men and against Chief of Police Svoboda of Cicero. . WIDOW SUES FOR * $50,000 DAMAGES Fifty thousand dollars Is asked for the death of John P. Tralle, 40, a car penter killed by a fall of a hammer In the Hartman Furniture company store a few days ago.
