Forced Sweetheart to Kill Another Girl, Police Allege. By SONIA USE. International Nem ferries Special Correspondent. Benton Harbor, Mich., Aug. 14.— Florence McKinney, pretty farm girl, who drove Emil Zppke'a automobile while he, sitting beside, strangled out the life of her rival, Cora Baber, eug gested the murder to show her power of Zupke, Sheriff George Brldgeman asserted today after a night of ques tioning the girl. The McKinney girl did not want to marry "AceM Zupke, the scapegrace young farmer who was thrown out of his own home by hie father, two weeks ago. She had no partlrulary enmity for his rival, the girl who wanted Zupke to marry her to give her expected child a name, according to the eherlff. She Just wanted to show her sower, the sheriff said. Both Held. Both Zupke and the McKinney girl are held on warrants charging first degree murder. Florence McKinney had shown that she could “take Ace away” from Cora Raber, the sheriff pointed out, ^ hut she didn't want to marry him P* and told the sheriff so. The victim of the plot, who went with Zupke that night In the expecta tion of marrying him, wore her wed ding finery—a white satin gown, white silk stockings, white shoes and the dainty lingeries of a bride, it was learned today. The shoes, stock ings and lingerie were on the body when it was found huddled and hid den, near the road, but the wedding gown was missing. Question Couple. Sheriff Brldgeman questioned Zupke and Florence McKinney closely to learn if her body had been taken elsewhere and the brown slip, which Mn. Starting Sat urday the Smith Players offer the record-breaking western success, "Bar Z Ranch.” Billy Van Allen returns to the cast as "Doc Rye,” one of his favorite old man characterizations. A feature of the show will be the intro duction of a red headed chorus.
