Au gust 19. Arrayed on one side le C. A. Soren son, wfio always has been opposed to a third party and favors the Town ley balance of power program, which calls for throwing radical strength behind certain candidates In major parties. On the other side are W. H. Green and J. L. Beebe of Omaha, and W. J. Taylor of Merna. These three gentlemen charge that Sorenson has killed effectiveness of the third party In Nebraska. They also charge that It was Soren son who attempted to keep them silenced at the meeting here last week when they were charged with being communlsta. Green at the time the meeting was held In Lincoln had a portmanteau filled with papers. These papers, he charged, would prove Sorenson was unfit to manage the Nonpartisan league newspaper. "It’s not true," Sorenson said, “and If they make anything like that public I'll have to do just as Roosevelt did when he was charged with excessive drinking," "i’ll spring it at the Grand Island convention," Green said heatedly. So far, however, Sorenson has ap parently won and has the confidence of the La Follette leaders In the east. He promises to be the state boss for La Follette. Unless something happens to quiet Beebe, Green and Taylor, Sorenson's victory may not be bloodless. The Sorenson men charge that it was spite on the part of Taylor that E. L. Bollen, democratic candidate for railway commissioner and progres sive candidate for the same office, re ceived such a "bawling out” at the recent La-Follette meeting. Bollen is Sorenson's law partner and they always do teamwork in politics. ADVERTISEMENT.
