Club Denies Plot to Scalp Butler Commissioner's Removal Not *** Sought by Tenth 1 ard, Members Say. Delegation from the Tenth Ward Improvement club called at central police station yesterday to repudiate a report that petitions circulated ask ing the removal of Police Commis sioner Dan Butler emanated from Us organization. The delegation included Frank A. Johnson, 3500 Cass street, chairman of the executive committee; J. S. Ward, 319 North Thirty-sixth avenue, secretary, and Mike O'Connor, 3402 Davenport street, and H. S. Morri son, 321 Thirty-sixth street, mem bers. Mr. Johnson declared none of the persons, who signed the petition is in any way connected with the Tenth Ward Improvement club. "This organization never has been political in its character, and never will be,” he said. "It is purely an improvement club. Politics never has entered the discussions of the club.” He denied that the delegation planned to assure Butler of their support. He reUterated his assertion that the club is nonpolitical. City Attorney Will Bring Paving Suit Special Dispatch to The Omaha Bee. Grand Island, Neb., July 19.—City Attorney Prince lias been instructed by the council to bring suit for $50, 000 against the bondsmen of the Ty ner Construction company, Kansas City, for defective construction in the paving of three of the city's largest iistricts within the past few years. Negotiations extending over some months have been made for a settle ment without avail, and the near ap proach to the expiration of the bonds leads the council to the present ac tion. It is alleged that the plans and specifications that formed the basis of the contract have not been fulfill ed. Chemical experts have been em ployed by the city durlngs its inves tigation. Wausau, Wis., July 19.—Mary l.anandi>, who was found in a swamp near here late yesterday after an right-day acarclt. cotifeased to Sheriff Arthur Slewert early today that *hc attacked her atepmother. Mrs. Anna Pawando on July 10, beating her over the head with a club. The girl, ac cording to the sheriff, refused to make known the reason for the at tack other than to say that she had "trouble" with Mrs. I.awando. Don Relishes Auto Tires; Owner Pays snerial Dispatch la the Omaha Bee. Watertown. 8. T>., July 16.—David Roland of this city Is the owner of a dog Which has the habit of chewing _|^intnmr»hlle tires. As a result of one Instance of this kind Boland waa made the defendant in a damage ac tion In the local small claims court and had to pay $10 to William J. Hoare. Boland was found liable for the damage when Hoare exhibited two front tires which showed the Im print of the dog s teeth, where the rubber was torn from the fabric. Witnesses testified concerning other tires the dog had been guilty of tear ing with its teeth. New Dairy Regulations Proposed in Columbus Special Dispatch to The Omaha Bee. Columbus, Neb., July 19.—Over the protests of more than 30 dairymen and cream manufacturers and cream ery men, the city council, without comment, today passed through first and second readings of a new ordi nance providing for the inspection and regulation of dairy herds, dairies and dairy sales methods. The ordi nance. prepared by the board of health, is the result of protests made by veterinary surgeons that milk from tubercular cows was being sold here and that several dairies were in describably filthy. P -- - Man Appeals Test Will Case to Supreme Court Special Dispatch to The Omaha Bee. Beatrice, Neb., July 19.—Frank Thimm, owner of the tract northwest the city where the test well was ilrilled last year, and who afterward -sued the city for $15,000 damages, has filed an appeal to the supreme court. Columbus, Neb., July 19.—Mrs. Ja cob Klpple, «4, for 34 years a resident of Columbus, died today of cancer of the stomach. Funeral sorvlcea will be held at Immanuel Lutheran church hers at 2:30 Saturday. She Is sur vived by her liushnnd, two sons and six daughters. Columbus, Neb., July 19.—John Nassek, 49, a farmer living southeast "f Silver Creek, was found dead under a tree In his yard following an attack of heart disease.
