Gift Not Necessary. Dear Mias Fairfax: Must one ac knowledge a wedding invitation with a gift. We are merely acquaintances of the coujile. Mr*. J. G. It is customary to sent a, gift when one is invited to a wedding but not a necessity. Mrs. C. F. H.: Why not get the books through the public library? Ex plain your need to the attendant and she will help you to select the books which will old you. It will b« rather expensive if you buy the books. Discouraged: Buck up and try’ again. Sometimes failures are good for us. The majority of those who Httain easily never study the prin ciple back of their achievement and many of those who prldo themselves on their "luck” don't fortify them selves with training, study and actual knowledge. And so. by having what they call "no luck ’ they have to set tle down and work. Learning how to do things la better than all the blind luck there la. tVork is the ons thing that insures rewards. Teaches: Tea. I should advise von to marry. But be very sure that your parents do not have some rea son for “nagging ' you. It would be very nice if you oould work this sum mer but maybe your mother is lone ly and would like you to be with her during the day. This thing of Judg ing one's parents is rather serious. Toung Juniors: ou must have been doing some splendid work to be juniors at 14. I don't see why you should dress as older girls Just Because you are advanced in school. If your hair looks well down, by all means wear it down. Maybe your "Jealous friends" are halfway right, after all. Fourteen is pretty young to be going out with boys. Are you sure your parents do not object? I believe you know- as well as I that it is not proper to permit any such undue familiarity on the part of your young friends. Three o’clock is an unearthly hour to be coming in at night. Most grown-ups even are in before that. I can’t Relieve any sane parents would permit child.en to keep such hours.
