I'lrkena loved melodrama, and he

Mrr own life in the atudlea of Iho
great American artlata la the theme
of Audrey Munaon's llret iilcture,
"Heedleaa Mothe." The famoua

The aettinira and dntaila of every
acene are taken from actual reality,
all of the lnterlora and locations, aa
well aa aome Ot the player, them
rclvea, being1 genuinely faithful to the
acenea which they depict.
That la why "Heedless Moths" Is ao
convincing. The spectator feels that
ho himself haa gone through the name
temptations and desires, that Audrey
J.Iunson experiences in the picture.
Animals have a universal appeal.
lioff and horse stories ko bl as a
rule, and the same applies to the can
ine alars of movledom. Working some
what on thla theory, "Dangeroua Ad
venture" at the Moon and the Muhc
utilizes a whole menagerie of beuata.
But wild beauts haven't quite the ap
' pral that the household pets have.
IWios, fur example, are depresalng
plaresbecauaa the unimuls are so out
of their element. But In aplte of your
llatrust of the pleasure enjoyed by
the giraffes, zebus, chimpanzees and
hippopotami In posing for this film,
It Is Interesting to see them all, and
Tiisko, said to be the largest elephant
in captivity (familiar ring to that,
what?) presents an lmpresnive amount
of tonnage and Ivory. Grace Dar
niond, the heroine, starts into Africa
after hidden treasure and Is closely
pursued by her lover who arrlvea In
time to rescue her caravan from the
rv.vages. A storm is one or. ine iea
tures and Is renllntlcally forceful.
Undoubtedly there Is an Irrestible
attraction about these strong Bllent
men of the desert, whether they wear
turbans and burnouses or merely rid
ing breeches and puttees. Anyway,
Wanda llawley, or Muriel, as sho is
called In "leart Sands" at the
Mrand, simply can't keep away from
Daniel Lane's private oasis. And she
arrives nt the most inconvenient
times! Just when the little French
dancer Is there on a perfectly respect
able errand, and then again she feela
that urge to see him just beforo the
Arabs attack the camp. Milton Hills
plays the part of Ijuie. tie philoso
pher, and that may account for the
lure. The picture is somewhat of a
disappointment after Sills' acting re
cently in "Skin Deep." This is a per
fectly conventional and unoriginal
role and gives him little scope. Just
why the picture la advertised aa "A
Man's Answer to the 8heik," has not,
at date of writing, been determined.
It eounda more liku a sequel than an
answer.
