The game was call ed at 3 o'clock by Umpire Elmore. The battery for Upland was Llndgren and 'Christenscn while Slaby was on the mound for the home boys and 1'ichler did the catching stunt. The game was. a good ouo and the visitors won by a score of 5 to 3. Lindgren struck out 12 and walked 4 while Slaby also had a credit of 12 strike outs and walked 2. Shryrock, Ostergaard and Ibsen of Up land each secured two base hits while Slaby was the only one for the home team that secured a two base hit. Qur team under the supervision of Mami ger Christy is no doubt going to prove to be a winner this summer as they are showing more pep and hitting bet ter. Ono hundred and twenty-Ilvo repre sentatives of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce arrived in Red Cloud right on time at 9:33 this morning. President Kdw. O. Faoth, of tho Kan sas City Chambor, along with Muyor Frank H.Cioinwoll and John W.Joulc ins III, Chairman of the Trade Extens ion Committee, hoaded the party, "We are out to meet old friends and make now ones" l'resideut Faoth stat ed on arrival here. "We want to get Letter acquainted with tho business men in the Kansas City trade tcrrl tory, we-want to know them better, we watit to see something of tho condi tions in tills territory, and wo ure mighty well pleased with what wehavo found", Every man iu tho party was on the station platform immediately after the troin stopped and they together with their baud were brought up town by our citizens. While the visitors were calling on tho merchants their baud rondcred soveral selections and a largo number of souveuiis wore given tho chlldron. The party Is out on a seven day trip, visiting sixtyinlno towns iti Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas, and covering approximately 1G00 miles. A private taain of twelve cars, Including two boventy-two foot baggngu cars, two diners, a chair car and sevcu pull mans made up tho equipment used by thq Kansas City party. Jenkins III, Chairman of the Trado Extension Committee, stated. CALF CLUB ORGANIZED Wosbtcr county will have her 4th Calf Club. Same was organized Sat urday with Eugene White- president, Lormier Edson, Vice-president, and Amelia Steward, secretary-treasurer. The personnell of tho Club Is as fol lows: nine Shorthoin heifers, five Hereford heifers, three Holstein heif ers, six Shorthorn steers and one Itcre ford steer. The new feature of the Club is the Baby Beef steers. Plans aic being made to show the best individuals at the State Fair. RED CLOUD TEAM WINS Last September boys in each High School in the County desiring Stock Judging work wore trained. At tho Farmers' Institute held in October a contest was held, same was in charge of Professor Gramlich nnd Red Cloud had the winning team. The Farm ers' Institute offered as a prize $25.00 toward paying expenses of team to Lincoln. Members of the team arc; Cecil Means, Eugene White and Robert Ovcring. This team has practiced several evenings after school and two afternoons. They were taken to Lin coln and in competition with 22 othor High Schools the Red Cloud team won first in the Dairy Contest. 12 prizes were captured. Score of thetcam was: Means C23, White 5G3 and Ovcring C43. Red Cloud and Webster county can feel proud of. this team. The boys hau a great time. They wore royally en tained and it was an event in their lives never to be forgottou. Before leaving Lincoln a rally was given the team at the High School. Mr. C.'B. Steward gave the students a talk on "Live Stock Industry." On their return, tho members of the team told their school-mates of their trip and the contest. This is the second winning stock judging team Webster county has out of three. Was an Enjoyable Affair The regular monthly banquot given by the Buslnoss Men Tuesday evening at the l'owoll Cafe was well attended and all were highly satisfied with tho splendid manner In which tho guests were served with a bumptious dlnnor under the direction of Mr. Powell. Tho muslo furnished by Mr. Uetz, Mr. Mercer and Miss Jessie Crablll was beautiful and very appropriate, and tho manner In which tho evening's pro gram was carried out generally was very pleasing. No particular bpeakor had been designated for the evening nud the time wasdovoted to a geuorul discussion of matters that came up for consideration. Committees wore appointed to ar rauge for the reception of tho Kansas City Commercial Club, tho mutter of providing u camping grouud for the tourists this summer was nlso discuss ed and R. P. Wecsuor named to head a committee for tho purpose of obtain ing a suitablo location. The matter of a Fourth of July cele bration at Red Cloud this year led to some argument and considerable diJT tfrcuco iu oplnlou was evident, but tho meeting voted not to celebrate.
