She also participated in the hanging of the greens program at the Y.W.C.A. They are Benjamin Andeh, who is attending Harvard university, and Seth Obeng, now at Mar quette university. Andoh and Obeng came from British West Africa, and arc two of many African students who have studied at Wiibcrforce. One of the reasons for so many Africans to select Wiibcrforce as the school to do their undergradu ate work Is because of the work of the AME Church in Africa. Rodman, postal clerk since i March 12, 191", was promoted to foreman in charge of scheme ex j animations at the Indianapolis postoffice effetcive Dec. 1, 1951. Rodman was appointed clerk in charge of scheme exams on Jan. 1, 1947, and formerly served as a trustee of the Indianapolis Postal Alliance branch. I Gilbert Johnson, Indianapolis 3 postal clerk since June 10, 1918, . also was promoted to clerk in , charge on the city case effective IDec. 1, 1951. Johnson’s promotion j marks the first time that an Al liance member has become a floor supervisor in the city section of the Indianapolis post office. Cup sugar, tfc cup water, 2 Mi tbsp. light corn syrup, tsp. salt, 1 tsp. vanilla, Vi tsp. vinegar, 1 10 oz. can corn, popped, candied cherries. Boil sugar, water and com syrup until sugar dissolves.1 Add salt, vanilla, vinegar, and fcontinue boiling without stirring .until a small quantity dropped in jcold water forms a hard ball. Be fore mixing this syrup with the popped corn, better oil your hands well to minimize sticking. Make, into large balls, stick halves of candied cherries on for Christmas decorations. Makes 9. i.1 Apple Santas. aj You need big, red apples (one 1 for each person), the same num ber of marshmallows, toothpicks, s cloves, candied cherries, white ( absorbent cotton, a small quantity i of shiny red paper, a bag of gum ; ‘drops and glue. Wrap a narrow ! strip of fluffy cotton around lower . half of each apple. Stick with . glue or gummed tape. To make a face on the marshmallow, stick cloves in for eyes and a sliver of candied cherry for the mouth. Attach marshmallow to top of ap ple with a toothpick. Now wrap a slender piece of the cotton I around the neck and stick on a ^fluffy long beard. To make arms and legs, slide three or four gum drops onto a toothpick and stick them into the apple strategically. Fruit and Nut Christmas Tree* 1 cup shelled walnuts, Mi cup shelled pecans, Mr cup almonds, V4 cup seeded raisins, V* cup can died cherries, 7 or 8 pitted dates, 2 or 3 dried figs, confectioner’s sugar. Put everything except su gar through food chopper using the finest blade. Sprinkle a little confectioner’s sugar on bread board and knead the mixture un til it’s thoroughly mixed. To make Christmas trees, pinch a little of the mixture off and shape it into a cone. Press large end into gold fluted bonbon cups and decorate with strips of candied citron and cinnamon candies. Merry Christmas Wreaths 1 Vz cups sifted flour, Vz tsp. baking powder, 1 cup butter or margarine, % cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla. Sift flour, measure and resift with baking powder, work or cream butter until soft, work in sugar gradually with spoon until very fluffy and smooth.
