Jordan I .os Angeles, Calif. Our lesson illustrated two very important facts. First of all Joshua’s leadership was success ful. He was able to go into the new land because the people will-^ ingly accepted that leadership and jobeyed his instructions. They followed him as he went forward in their interest. Can you recall instances when the bishop ap-1 pointed a new pastor and when he I board? Instead of considering it, one after another either proffered ideas of his own, told the pastor what they’d always done, or how his program wouldn’t work. Follow ing leadership is absolutely necessary for a successful church program. The second point of emphasis is the loyalty to God of both leaders and people. Their complete dependence upon God was the secret of the success of their conquest. Difficulties are ; overcome more easily not only in our churches and institutions but in our personal and social lives if we depend upon God. Conquests that we, as Christians find our . selves involved in today will end in victory if we depend upon God. I Complete dependence at all times | means a successful life. I Yesterday I went down town to shop. Mother Lytle wanted a certain magazine and a few other things while I had to see one jof Uncle Sam’s representatives about some business. I caught the bus at 9:30 a.m. and arrived at my first stop at 10 00 I went into the famous Barr department store where 15 minutes and 125 bumps later, I caught sight of the magazine counter, only to find that the certain magazine wasn’t on sale as yet. That assure you is the same results that I had all along. Guess it just wasn’t my day. When I arrived at the United States Court House I discovered so much red that first glance, I thought we were in holiday spirit. You have to have a college education in order to figure out how to get the elevator to stop on the floor where you want to get off. Oh yes, the y have writ ten directions but I had forgotten | to bring my attorney along to decipher them. I arrived home safely in time for supper, with nothing to show for my day but a worn disposi tion. It isn’t that St. Louis is so big, it’s just that there is so much of it.
