Obituary Mrs. Brevy Miller, 53, was born in Yazoo City, Miss., to Pinck Hill and Elizs Johnson Hill. Death came to Mrs. Miller September 9th, in St. Louis, Mo., where she had gone to spend an extended period with her sister, Dr. X. A. Hill Fox and brother-in-law, Rev. W. W. Fox. It was just August 26, a few weeks earlier that a brother, Tam Hill, died suddenly in California while on one of his trips as a dining car chef cook. Remains of Mrs. Miller were re turned to Lincoln for burial. She served as Editor of the Household Hint column of the Lincoln Voice, local newspaper and was active in church circles at Newman Meth odist Church. She was employed at the U. S. Post Office for the past eleven years. Mrs. Miller organized the Lin coln Kensington club and served as its president for three years. She was active in the Lincoln Council of Church Women, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and she attended Union Col lege school of music for two years. Mrs. Miller leaves her husband, John; daughter, Mrs. Leona Brown of Detroit, Michigan; sister, Dr. k. A. Hill Fox of St. Louis; two brothers, Pahio and Henry Hill. Among distant relatives are two prominent dentists, Dr. Claybom Hill of St. Paul, Minn., and Dr. Hill of Clarksdale, Miss. Miss Mil ler’s two sisters gained a wide reputation for their brilliant schol arship at Nebraska University during the twenties. The late Miss Zansie Hill was the first female student to finish law at N.U. She served briefly as counselor for the Woodman of Union in Hot Springs, Ark. Overwork as a high school and college student led to a nerv ous breakdown and Lawyer Hill returned to her native Yazoo City for a long rest at the Afro-Ameri ean hospital. Death came to the young woman at the high tide of promising career in the field of | law. The youngest sister pursued a; i medical course, and following the ! completion Of her study eventually • turned to practice in St. Louis. jShe met and married Rev. Fox of j Memphis, on one of his frequent visits to Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple have one son Walter, Jr. Dr. Hill is achieving an outstand ing success in medicine. One of the brothers, Pahio M. E.,'[ is now a well known baritone singer in the east. Mrs. Savage Enrolls As Graduate Student At Uni. of Missouri 'JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.— (ANP)—Mrs. Roena Savage, wife of Dr. W. Sherman Savage, head of Lincoln university’s history and social science department, has en rolled an a graduate student in Music History and Literature at the University of Missouri. Mrs. Savage is a graduate of the University of Southern California where she majored in Voice and Music Th^ry. A farmer teacher of voice at Lincoln university, Mrs. Savage also has been a member of the music faculty at San Bernardino Valley college, Calif. She is in the current issue of “Who’s Who in Music,” and has been invited to serve on the Voice Forum of the Missouri Music Teacher’s Association when it con ivenes in Joplin, Mo. | -- I Food Fair and Home Show at ; The Lancaster County Food Fair and Better Home Show spon sored by the Homemakers kitchen Institute with Dr. Josef Stode mier, general manager was of considerable interest to Lincoln house wives. The three day dis play and demonstration was held at the Urban League. Prizes and gifts were the main attraction on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. 3n Thursday evening the group was addressed by Mayor Victor E. Anderson. Miss Frances Paulson; and Miss Edna Kniffin from The! Gas Company gave a delightful' demonstration on how to prepare and serve a complete menu. , First place in the cake baking contest, using Gooch’s Best Flour, went to Mrs. M. L. Shakespeare, who chose the Foundation Cake recipe from THE VOICE COOK BOOK. Second place went to Mrs. M. T. Woods, jr., and Mrs. Addie Taylor took third place. The win --- l ,ners received respectively a twenty-five, ten and five pound [ sack of Gooch’s Best Flour. Commission Offers Fellowships WASHINGTON. (ANP). The U.S. Atomic Energy Commission will offer eight fellowships in In dustrial Medicine Atomic Energy Project, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, N. Y. The one year fellowship in cludes $3,600 plus tuition and lab oratory fees. After completing the one year academic training at ap proved institutions, fellows may apply for a second year’s in-plant training at one of the major in stallations of the AEC. Purpose of the special fellow ship program is to provide ad vanced training and on-the-job experience to men and women physicians in the field of indus trial medicine, particularly in re r ' ■ i lation to the atomic energy in dustry.
