She will remain indefi nitely. « « • Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peterson had as their Easter guests Mrs. Peterson’s cousin, Mrs. Kenneth Glass and Mr. Glass, from Columbia, Missouri. • • * Louis Whitebear, son of tyr. and Mrs. Levi Whitebear, left Wednesday morning for the Army Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Thurman are making there home with Mr. and Mrs. Whitebear. Mrs. Thurman is the former Ethel Mae Whitebear. * • • Robbie Lee and Freddie Louise Powell were in the city visiting their father. Rev. R. H. Powell. * * # Mrs George Brooks, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, spent the week end at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. R. E. Edwards. Mrs. Brooks, a delegate to the Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs, which convened in the city three days at the Cornhusker Hotel, was a representative of the 12 members of the South Sioux City Women’s Club. Nat (King) Cole Keeps Home LOS ANGELES. (ANP)—Nat (King) Cole, star pianist, singer and leader of a famed trio, learned last veek that he will be allowed to keep his $85,000 home. He had been threatened with loss of this estate because of de linquency in payment of back in come taxes owed the federal gov ernment. To keep his home which the government already had seized, he paid in cash h sum the govern ment expected to collect from the sale of the house. The bureau of internal revenue did not tell what this sum was, : but did say the record artist had 1 agreed to assign all royalties from ' his recordings with Capitol Rec ords to pay what he owes. The party started at 3:15 until 6:00 p.m. Guests included, Beverly and Sylvia Douglas, Vivian Walker, Patricia King, Myrna McWil ; liams, Maggie Lee Welch, Threasa Mosley, Carol Parks, Joyce Nevels, Wayne Napue, Boyd Rob erts, Lester Colliers, Cornie Wil kerson, Donnie and Larry White man, Paul Lewis, Robert Botts, , Gaylan McWilliams and Marvin Hudson. Brooks had as their dinner guests Thurs day, the Rev. and Mrs. M. C. Williams of Omaha. Rev. Wil liams held a revival Monday through Friday at Mt. Zion Bap tist church, the Rev. W. I. Monroe is pastor of the church. * * * Quinn Chapel A.M. E. church is planning two big projects this month. The annual revival will begin April 15 thru 22nd. The Rev. H. A. Simmons will be the evangelist. The public is urged to attend. The Laymen’s League is sponsoring a pew rally April 29th at 3:30 p.m. Special guest for the occasion will be former pastor Rev. R. E. Handy of Al len Chapel A.M.E. church in Omaha. His choir will sing. * * * I Mrs. Melvin White, the former Mattie Sue Nevels, daughter of! Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nevels spent two weeks wtih her parents.
