This is a day of Rackets, Cliques and tricks when Satan’s cohorts seem to be loose and en gaged in every kind of a fix. 2. It appears a common thing now in Church and State for Satan to get a loyal following, more than willing to meet his terms and wage rate. 3. The very fact that Satan's Kingdom has become so lasting and strong is unmistakable evi dence that too many young and old people have given over to doing wrong. 4; The path of least resistance has silver and gold for its bricks, and Satan provides dope and lav ish amusements for any and all kind of tricks. 5. But it takes some men and women almost a lifetime to learn that his kicks are destroyers of life, and that what seems beau tiful and harmless are more deadly than poison or a knife. 6. Satan works so smoothly even with those who pretend to be friends that, it takes a shrewd heart and mind to apprehend his subtle ends. 7. But there are some things the child of God must always be alert to defeat, and they are those high priced special things Satan Sunday School ' / 4 Lesson THE BEGINNING OF SIN Scripture—Genesis 3:1-5; 6:5 9:17. Memory Selection — For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life though Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23. Present Day Application By Frederick D. Jordan Los Angeles, Calif. We find in this lesson a perfect description of the way sin works in the life of each one of us. A popular magazine recently pu blished the story of a famous musician who became addicted to the use of Marijuana. From a fine physique and weighing nearly 200 pounds, he failed in health and died at 90 pounds, unable to free i himself of the habit that sapped his very life blood. Sin can lay hold upon one in such way that no earthly power can ride one. Only the transforming power of God will suffice. His love out shines His justice and His wrath, by His love we are saved. What sin will do for the individual it will do for the group, for the community, for the nation. Even in the church we find sin, and the ! church because of it loses its power and influence in the com munity. It cannot call sinners to repentance be cause of its own guilts. Sin makes us cowards, but ! victory over sin gives us courage and makes us bold in our Christ ian life. auctions from a mountain peak. 8. When all of the selfish, greedy folks are grabbing and pulling to be known, this is the true deciple with his God, un disturbed stands quietly alone. 9. He doesn’t get excited over Satan’s flower offers or his allur ing devices; he would rather stand alone in the midst of firey trial than temporarily glide along on Satan’s vices. 10. Sad, but only a few are willing to walk with Jesus to Jerusalem alone*, for the crowds fear the shadows that hide their clear view of the throne. 11. But, ah, the true and tried Christian who knows that God’s word is true, would rather stand alone with Jesus, for Satan’s forces He can truly subdue. 12. Yes, it pays to serve Jesus, even having to face men with hearts of stone—for He has prom ised never to leave us; no never alone. Sport I ales Easter Return* To Iml inn* Lineup TUCSON, Ariz.— (ANP) — Big first baseman Luke Easter, out of spring training for several weeks because of injury, has returned to the lineup of the Cleveland In dians. Since returning to the Cleve land lineup, Easter has been a terror to opposing pitchers. In each of his two games he has pounded out long home runs. Larry Doby, as usual, has been consistent in the field and at bat for the Indians. Rookies Harry Simpson and Orostos Minoso have done very well in camp, too. Both still are fighting to be kept with the squad. Thompson Homers To Win for Giant* ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— (ANP)—Third baseman Harry Thompson of the New York Giants pelted a three-run home run inside the pqrk to lead his team to a 4 to 1 victory of the St. Louis Cardinals in an exhibi tion game. This blow came in the first in ning to give the Giants a lead they never relinquished. Thompson and Monte Irvin are key figures in. Manager Leo Du rocher’s search for a cleanup bat ter. Thompson held down that spot much of last season. Catcher Rafael Noble is doing a good job behind the plate for the Giants, giving them an excel lent one-two combination, pos sibly second only to the Roy Campanella, Bruce Edwards duo of the Brooklyn Dodgers in the majors.
