\ Social Briefs Mr. and Mrs. James H. Dean were dinner guests on Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Young. * * * - Mr. and Mrs. James H. Dean entertained at a family dinner on Thursday. Guests were their son Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde W. Malone and daughter, Jeanne. Mr. and Mrs. George Randol, Mr. Walter Colley and his son. Horace E., Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Roland W. Young, Mrs. Sara Walker and her niece Vivian. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Lewis stopped in to extend greet ings during the evening. * * * Mrs. J. A. Shelby spent Thanks giving in Omaha as guest of Mrs. C. D. Webster and her daughter. She arrived with Miss Barbra Kelley, a teacher in Vinita, and Mrs. Kelley. * $ * Miss Dorothy Greene was the i dinner guest of Rev. and Mrs. R. Mo., visiting friends and relatives. * * * Mrs. Lydia M. Payne of Kan sas City, Kas., arrived Wednes day to be Thanksgiving guest of the Rev. and Mrs. Melvin L. Shakespeare. On Thursday after attending Union services at Mt. Zion Baptist church Mrs. Payne I shared honors at dinner with Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson. Friday evening Mrs. Payne greeted a number of new and old ac quaintances. Saturday she was the dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson. On Monday morn ing she returned home. * * * Mrs. Ruth Thomas and daugh ter, Janice of Omaha were Lin coln visitors recently. Mrs. Thomas is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Patrick. * * * Mrs. R. Dredge short ribs with flour. Brown in hot fat. Season. 2. Add water; cover and sim mer 1 hour or until meat is nearly tender. Using a blue simmer flame 3. Add vegetables. Cook on blue simmer flame until tender. (15 to 20 minutes.) 4. Place meat on hot platter. 5. Remove excess fat from the liquid and vegetables. 6. Make a flour paste and thick en liquid for gravy. 7. Pour gravy and vegetables over meat. 8. Yield 6 servings. Ornamental Frosting 1 egg white lVi cups confectioner’s sugar V4 teaspoon cream of tartar Beat egg white until foamy. Add one-third of the sugar and continue beating. Add another thii'd cup of sugar and the cream of tartar.
