I Sunday- Sdionl <3bl£&£)fL Subject: “Malachi demands sin cere religion.” Scripture Text: Malachi 1:1. 6-B, 2:13, 14-3; 7-12. Golden Text: “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say”? Luke 45:46 —Application— • Malachi was the last ol the three post-captivity prophets. His book is also the last of the Old Testament. The burdens of the Book resolves itself into three parts. 1—The sins of the priests 2—The sins of the people. 3— The "“day” of the Lord. In the days of Malachi, as in ©ur day, the moral nnd religious condition of the people was at a low ebb He first calls attention to the fact that God is good. The love of God in giving food, raiments and peace is so plain as to need no rehearsal, yet man kind from the piilpit through the pew has slipped back into for malism and self righteousness, so now, as then, we need warnings and reproofs ratheT than promises and encouragements. The sins of the priests: They only offered the sick, the hlind and the lame on God’s altar. They did not enter into worship with a pure heart. They spoke of thin tasks as making them weary. The sins of the people: 1. Pay ing an unliving wage to the serv ants. Robbing the widow and the fatherless. 2. A curse put upon sorcerers, adiftterers and against liars. 3. Those that rob God will be condemned with a great judg ment. (One-tenth of your earn ings belong to God. To withhold that tenth or any part nf it is to take from Him that which is His) aCveryone receiving from the goodness of <God should honor Him with their substance. To do less is to dishonor Him. Peter Abrahams, author -of “Path of Thunder,” a novel w hich deals with the love of two people of different races In South Africa. The book is her alded by reviewers as being “completely convincing and ap proaching the Quality of univer sality that good writing should have.” Abraham was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ie96 than 3ft years ago, but is de scribed as a writer with ‘'rare talent.” (ANP) I-1 Seconds of 72x108. 239 81x99...2.39 81x108 . .2.49 Pi How coses ...54 Seconds of Pacific “Merit” 1 sheets . . . type 140 . . . heavy-weight muslin, gave # now on sheets for all your needs.
