Handy Subject—“Religious reforms in Judah” Lesson Text—2nd Kings 22-23 Memory Verse—“Give me under standing, and I shall keep Thy law”.—Psalm 119:34 In our lesson today we find that Josiah started his reign at a very tender age, being only eight years old. It is almost certain that his rule, because of his youth was begun under a regent. That this regent was composed of god ly men is certain. Josiah, himself, sought, and found the Lord when he was six teen. After this he sent officers to gather money and direct the re pairing of the house of the Lord. As the cleaning of God’s house proceeded. Hilkiah, the high priest, found the book of the law. The very life of the nation de pended upon God and His law and it seems amazing that His people should have permitted it to be lost. With the reading of the law into Josiah’s ears, he hastened to institute many reforms. Social, economic, and national life was improved. All idols were re moved and the true worship of God was reinstated. These same reforms are needed today in our n;4ionai life. We V > M- ■ - have neglected to read and study our Bible—the Law—so we have no real understanding of the will of God for our day and time. The theater the Sunday baseball game and the beer tavern all carry a larger crowd than does the church. Too many of the devotees of these attractions are Christians. We need to read anew the law and make reforms. -o Men's Club (Continued from page 1) This was one of the gayest af fairs ever sponsored by the club. There was plenty of food, speech es and applause. Two guests, Mr. Bernard Grice and Mr. Olver E. Smith, both students of the Nebraska Univer sity, gave very nice remarks in response to an address by Mr. Wadkins. The Men’s Club will meet, here after, the first Wednesday of each month. Gilmour • Danielson Drug Go. Prescription Druggists 142 South 13th St., Lincoln, Nebr.
