Omaha civic and business leaders,
national directors of the Woodmen
Circle, and members of the women's

Motoring to Omaha from Lincoln,
Mrs. Cochran was an honor guest at
the luncheon. She told briefly Ne
braska's pride at having headquar
ters for the Woodmen Circle, a fra
ternal insurance society for women
and children operating in 42 states,
in this state.
"rMs. Talley is an illustrious ex
ample of what women can accomplish
in this world," Mrs. Cochran said.
Mayor Roy Towl of Omaha and Al
vin E. Johnson, president of the Om
aha Chamber of Commerce, welcomed
Mrs. Talley back to Omaha after her
recent tour of the country during
which she attended state conventions
and the national convention of the
Woodmen Circle.
Mrs. Talley recently won national
recognition through her selection as a
member of the executive committee
and president of the presidents sec

OLD HOTEL TO BE RAZED
Fremont, Neb. The Davenport
hotel, one of Fremont's landmarks
and a popular gathering place in the
70s ,1s to be razed. Fifty years ago
the structure was one of the city's
most popular hotels, but for many
years it has served as a rooming
house. After more than half a cen
tury of service, it has become too old
for further use.
Erected either In the late COs or
the early 70s, it soon became a pop
ular Bohemian hotel, when many peo
ple of Bohemian descent were pass
ing thru Fremont en route from their
native land to settle in the new west.
The hotel was operated by Joseph
Brezena, and in front of it hung a
large sign with the Bohemian words,
"Ceska Hospoda."
