Wen Cass County Tournament Avoca has a reputation for turning out good basketball teams and this year secm3 to be no exception, for the local team walked off with the honors at the Cass county tournament held last week at Elmwood and will rep resent this section at the Class B dis trict tournament to be held at Brock. Should they win there, they will meet the other district winners at the regional tournament to be held in Falls City this year. Formerly Ne braska City has had this tournament most of the time, being mere central ly located, but found it unprofitable and did not extend an Invitation for this year's regional meet. Should the local team also- take the regional honors, it will again go to the state tournament. Last year's team ran the gauntlet or southeastern Nebraska competition and made a nice showing at the state meet. Getting back to our account of the Elmwood tournament, which occupied the last four days of last week, Avoca won it3 first game from Elmwood by a score of 34 to 14; then took Eagle Jn a very close battle, by a score of 23 Weeping Water Miss Agnes Rough, the beauty cul turist, was called to Lincoln last Mon day to look after some business in her line and was visiting with friends as well. Tock Examination for Postmaster Five of the citizens of Weeping Water were in Plattsmouth last Sat urday, where they took the examina tion for postmaster here. They were given their examination by Miss Ger- to 22, and finally trimmed Murdock by a 10 to 10 score. The fans are all hoping the boys will go on to greater victories, even to getting a chance at the state Class B title. Avoca continues to hold its reputation for turning out good bas ketball teams. Considering the size of the town and the school their showing i3 re markable, as most towns of this size are entered in a much lower classifi cation and when it comes to state competition, they find themselves up against teams from towns of two and three thousand population.
