pedition, arrived at Washington this
forenoon from New Yoik, and epoled

with Captain Mills, acting chief signal
officer, and Lieutenant Caseyee, of that

cent expedition. Lieutenant Garling

declines to say anything wha.ever on
the subject of the expedition for public-it
ion. Secretary Lincoln left Wash
ington Saturday night for Sandueky,

. Philadelphia, Oct. 1. A few days
ago a warrant was issued for the arrest
of Augustus E. Kreidel, a cigar dealer
on charge of appropriating $6,000 of
the funds of the building association ot

prostrated by illaws at the time the
warrant was snived and late Saturday

London, October 1. The Mark Laue
Express, iu its law review of the Brit
ibh grain trade the past week, says; The
cold and wet weather has hampered
the gathering of the rcmuaut of the
h iryest and has also been very unfavor
able for the thrashing of grain. The sam
ples of new English wheat that arrived
are generally in bad condition. Damp
'aamles are unsaleable and dry samples
barely maiutaiu previous rates. Flour
very dull. Foreign wheals very de
piesed. S ipplies large. Arrivals of
Hour heavy. Pacific coast flour does
not appear suited for the London mar
ket. Maze gradually cheapening; mix
ed American on Friday w as quoted at
20s ex-shipment. Cargoes off the
coast are lifeless. Thee were 23 arri
vals and 7 sales, 10 withdrawn and II
remain ou s.-ile. Trade is forward and
ei-rcssed. The sal.-s of English wheat
for the week were 72,844 quarter at 40s
per quarter, agaiust 5,821 quarters at
40s 4d per quarter for the correspond
ing week last year.
