The local chapter of Delta Gamma
will give Its annual banquet next Satur
day at the home of Miss Ruth Bryan.
The W. T. M. will give a Saint Patrick's
party next Saturday evening at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Edleman.
Mr. Burdette Lewis has removed to
Phi Kappa Psi chapter house, where he
will reside during the remainder of the
year.

Mrs. Arthur DeWitt gave a dinner
Tuesday evening for Mrs. Downe, who
Is soon to leave for Mount Holly, New

last evening at the chapter house. Six
teen couples were present. Refreshments
were served.
Miss McGahey gave a hose and hand
kerchief shower this afternoon for Miss
Jennie Barber. A supper closed the af
ternoon's pleasures.
Mr. nnd Mrs. E. C. Rewick entertained
the L. A. kensington members and their
husbands at cards last evening. A two
course supper was served.
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Morrill gave a din
ner of twelve covers In honor of Gov
ernor nnd Mrs. Mickey, last evening.
The decorations were red roses.
Miss Bertha Shldler. a Kappa Kappa
Gamma, will spend Sunday at her home
in York, and Miss Edith Shedd went to
Ashland today to remain until Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Mayer entertained
thirty guests at military euchre last
evening. Four prizes were given. The
decorations were in keeping with the
game.
Miss Agnew and Mrs. Frederick Cle
ments gave a Kensington at the home of
the former on Saturday. The guests
were twenty-live members of Kappa
Alpha Theta.
The Cotillon club held a business
meeting last evening at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Curtice. Music and re
freshments gave a touch of pleasure to
the gathering.
Mrs. I. E. Johnson and Mr. Ralph E.
Johnson went fo Seward yesterday to
visit their cousin, Mrs. E. E. Betzer, and
Mr. Betzer. Mr. Betzer is editor of the
Seward Blade.
The active members of Pi Beta Phi
will give a tea from three until six
o'clock on Monday, In honor of Miss
Jennie Barber, at the home of Miss
Minnie Morrill.
Mr. and Mis. R. T. Van Brunt will
give a dinner this evening. Tulips will
be used In decorating. The menu will be
served In seven courses. Covers will be
laid for twelve.
Mr. Herbert Marsland has arrived in
the city and he and Mrs. Marsland will
be guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mars
land for a fortnight before returning to
their home in New York.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon gave a smoker
this afternoon at the chapter house in
honor of the alumni members who are in
town to attend the annual banquet this
evening, nnd the house has been turned
over to them while they are here.
Mrs. Adna Dobson gave a card party
Thursday afternoon for thirty ladles.
High five was played and a dainty
luncheon was served. Thursday evening
Mr. and Mrs. Dobson entertained the
same number of guests at cards.
Mrs. M. H. Everett, who went to
Washington to attend the twelfth conti
nental congress of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, will stop In Men
dota, Illinois, to visit Doctor Everett's
mother, before returning home.
An Informal dancing party will be
given this evening at the home of Miss
Waugh, In honor of the members of Pi
Beta Phi who are in town to attend the
Barber-Plym wedding next week. The
hostesses will be the actl'e members of
the sorority.
Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Talbot gave a very
enjoyable informal musicale Thursday
evening In honor of Mrs. Croncr, who Is
the guest of Doctor and Mrs. Earl at
Ingleslde. Mrs. Ralph E. Johnson ren
dered charming music. Fifteen guests
were present.
A suggestion for whillng away time
during Lent: In New York the girls are
formed Into sewing classes for Lent,
meeting once a week and carrying their
work with them and being very Indus
trious until 5 o'clock, when the men ap
pear slmultaneosuly with the tea.
Company B, university cadets, will

Mrs. Ralph E. Johnson will leave
about the twentieth of this month foi
an extended visit to her old home in
Philadelphia. Mr. Johnson expects to
spend the last half of June in Indian
apolis, after which he will Join Mrs,
Johnson and together they will return
home some time In July.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon gave an informal
chafing-dish party last evening In honor
of Mr. Jouvenat, an alumni member
from Petersburg, who Is here to attend
the annual banquet of the fraternity to
night. About twenty couples were pres
ent and the genial hospitality of the
entertainers was enjoyed to the utmost.
Mrs. Mark Woods gave u one o'clock
luncheon yesterday in honor of Miss
Grace Harrison. Red tulips adorned the
table, and the place cards were delicate
ly done In India ink. The lunucheon was
served in seven courses, and covers were
laid for twelve. Music by Miss Harri
son, Miss Raymond and Mrs. John Dor
gan was a feature of the party.
Professor and Mrs. E. A. Burnett gave
a six o'clock luncheon Monday evening
in honor of Mrs. Dahl-Laws of Minne
apolis, and Mr. F. F. Greely of South
Dakota, who have been assisting Mr.
Burnett In farmers' Institutes this win
ter. Dalntly appointed small tables
adorned with spring flowers were placed
In the different rooms. Covers were laid
for thirty.
Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Kelley entertained
the members of the Athenea club and
their husbands informally last evening.
After a guessing game and a general
social time, the, guests were Invited to
the dining room where a railroad lunch
counter had befn arranged. Character
istic refreshments, consisting of Jelly
cakes on glass stands, pies, sandwiches,
coffee and pickles were served.
It is the custom at Miss Summers'
school in Washington for the young
lady students to give receptions at the
school and invite their friends In the
city. A group of young ladies, includ
ing Miss Louise Burnham. gave a pretty
reception there last week. and. It Is said
did the honors very gracefully. Miss
Lillian White, who is attending the Na
tional Park school, and Miss Ruth Ray
mond, who is a student at the National
Cathedral school, were among the
guests.
