THE HAWTHORNE SOCIETY OF THE LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL.

The Hawthorne society of the Lincoln
high school was founded about seven
years ago. During the first four years
of its existence it was a literary society.
Books were reviewed and programs
given weekly, but now it is strictly a
social organization. Numerous parties
have been given at the homes of the
members, where great amusement Is al
ways afforded. A business meeting is
held every Monday in one of the high
school rooms, where the following offi
cers preside:
President, Alice Auld; vice-president.
Silence Stewart; secretary, Jessie Mosh
er; treasurer, Georgia Field; sergeant-at-arms,
Grace White.
Jolly times for the society are antici
pated during the holidays. The active
members of the society are: Hazel Van-
denburg, Mary Minor, Mabel Williams,
Madge Wilson, Edith Wilson. Grace
Meeker, Louise Hoover, Claire Canom,
Silence Stuart, Georgia Field, Alice Auld,
Llla Le Gore, Grace White, Mabel States.
Fanchon'Hooper, Margery Watkins, Jes
sie Mosher, Mabel De Putron, Helen
Laws, Lola Southwlck, Margaret Byers,
Fay BonnelL
The Misses Gere, Lansing and Bridge
are sponsors of the society.
