few days this week.

at the Elk's lodge rooms on Wednesday.

ing. Mrs. Harry H. Everett has returned
from an extended visit in Iowa and Chi
cago. Miss Darieen Woodward will entertain
in honor of Miss Jeannette Thorpe next

Mrs. J. N. Hunter of Kansas City Is

The freshmen of the state university
will give their annual dance next Fri

West Point, where she went to visit her

Miss Pearl Archibald gave supper after
the opera Thursday evening. Her guests
were some of the PI Phi girls.
Mr. and Mrs. I. G. Chapin will enter
tain the members of the L. A. kensing
ton and their husbands Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. C W. Branch will give
a card party in honor of Mr. and Mrs.
C. L. Burr of New Tork city next Fri
day evening.
Miss Helen Hoover is the guest of Mrs.
M. F. Meeds this week and will spend
next week with her sister, Miss Marie

will go to Iowa next week.

giving guest at the Delta Delta Delta
chapter house, and will remain over Sun
day with her sorority sisters.

Reed Smoot, apostle of the Mormon church, asserts that he is assured of
election In the United States Senate as a result of the recent political vic
tories in Utah. In Washington it is expected that his attempt to take his seat
will mean a repetition of the famous legislative fight and national storm of
anti-mormon sentiments which the efforts of Roberts to enter the house
aroused some time ago.
Mrs. T. H. McGahey and Miss Irwin
gave a pretty luncheon yesterday in
honor of Mrs. Atkinson of Omaha and
Mrs. C. N. Little of California.
Miss Belva Herron was hostess to the
Fortnightly club on Tuesday. Mrs. W.
J. Lamb talked on "Treaties Between
China, Japan, Hawaii and the United
States."
Chancellor and Mrs. Andrews and
Dean and Mrs. Ward will give a recep
tion at the Millard In Omaha, next Fri
day, to the members of the faculty of
the college of medicine.
The southeast circle of the First Pres
byterian church will entertain the south
west circle, at the home of Mrs. A. L.
Hoover. Seventeenth and Cherry streets,
Wednesday afternoon.
A delightful dancing party was given
last evening by Mrs. C. H. Eubank for
her son Harold. The house was prettily
adorned with flags and chrysanthemums,
A two-course luncheon was served.
Mrs. C. H. Gordon has issued Invita
tions for kenslngtons to be given Mon
day and Tuesday afternoons, December
8th and 9th. On the evening of the 8th
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon will give a dinner.
Miss Neva and Mr. Aldls Hibner gave
an informal dancing party last evening.
Substantial refreshments were served at
eleven o'clock and punch was served all
evening. Twenty-flve young people were
present.
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Buckstaff were the
guests of honor at a brilliant military
euchre given by Mr. and Mrs. D. B.
Cropsey and Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Mc
Lucas at their home in Fairbury, Mon
day evening.

Miss Sara Hayden is giving a series of
studio teas beginning with yesterday af
ternoon. A second was given this after
noon, and a third will probably be given
next Saturday, all at Miss Hayden's
studio in the state university.
An exceedingly dainty luncheon was
given at 1 o'clock on Monday by Mrs. E.
A. Ross, 3090 R street. In compliment to
Mrs. C. N. Little of California. The dec
orations were carnations and ferns.
Covers were laid for twenty.
On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. G. A.
Warner gave pleasure to twenty-flve
ladies whom she had Invited to a ken
sington given in honor of Mrs. C. N. Lit
tle. Many of those present were old
friends of Mrs. Little and the reunion
was a very pleasant one. A delicate
luncheon was served.
Mrs. John B. Horton gave a luncheon
today In honor of Mrs. J. E. Tuttle.

Tuttle, Hamlin, H. H. Wilson, A. S.
Tibbets. Jennie Franklsh, Wlllard Kim
ball, J. A. Llppincott, and Miss Hardy.
Messieurs and Mesdames H. B. Ward,
C. G. Crittenden, F. D. Levering, Doctor
and Mrs. C. F. Ladd and Doctor and
Mrs. John Williams, were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Curtice at dinner Wed
nesday evening.
Miss Elma Lord Marsland entertained
a dozen people charmingly last Friday
evening. Progressive conversation was
enjoyed. Delicious fudge was made by
the hostess in a chafing dish and re
freshments were served in three courses.
Mrs. C. E. Bessey and Mrs. E. H. Bar
bour entertained some of the faculty
ladies at a kensington given this after
noon In honor cf Mrs. C. N. Little. Miss
Howell recited for the pleasure of the
guests. Miss Emily Perkins delighted
them with her piano solos, and Miss
