This question has sug gested Itself over and over to people expecting state fair and Epworth as sembly pilgrims. And yet to the man or woman of long residence it appears that the prospects of a delightful week of sight seeing in this city are very poor indeed. But this is one great big lugubrious mistake. There are enough quaint, curious and delightful spots in. Lincoln to keep a visitor fairly busy for eight long days. After a visit to Lincoln park, the new comer would naturally Inquire about Mr. Bryan and his house. In order to satisfy this curiosity a trip to Union college Is the proper thing. On the way the stranger sees a very pretty residence district, gets a good look at Fairview and has a chance to look about the Advent college. The state Institutions are worth three days' time. It will Jake a half day to properly Inspect the Insane asylum. The penitentiary would have to be vis ited. The home for the friendless Is another attraction. Through all these places visitors are shown at hours specified by the management. Usually a small guide fee. usually ten cents, is charged and goes toward the mainte nance of the institution. Should the visitor be of an educa tional turn of mind, it will take two whole days to saunter through the va rious buildings on the university campus. For the hurried the library the museum, the shops and the gym nasium will be found entertaining. It is only necessary to call at the execu tive office at the main building and a guide will be provided free of charge. To obtain a bird's-eye view of Lin coln, go to the state capltol and ascend to the dome. From this point the whole city can be seen by the visitor. The location of the different colleges and public buildings can also be shown. Wesleyan university and Havelock can be seen by a single trip. At the latter place the Burlington shops are very interesting. In the city within easy walking dis tances are several features that will be entertaining to people unused to city life. The public library and the police and fire departments are among the latter. It is also very pleasant to take a walk over the viaduct at night. In this way getting an excellent view of the railroad yards illuminated with countless switch lights. Wyuka ceme tery is also very beautiful at this sea son of the year. A drive through the residence districts will claim a half day and It will be well spent at that.
