During the past week to walk up the Avenue from Madison Square to the Park, at al most any time from twelve to five, was to encounter a procession of wed ding carriages, or to find the street blocked before some church entrance, canopied and carpeted for the white slippered feet of dainty bride and bridesmaids. At the Murchison-de Mauriac wed ding the dark-haired bride wore a gown of white armure Carnac elabor ately trimmed with point lace. The long, trailing .skirt was close-fitting, with a good flare at the bottom. The bodice was almost completely covered with point lace, and -the close-fitting elbow sleeves were finished In wide frills. A handsome jewel on the .bod Ice was her only ornament, save the wreath of orange blossoms, from which depended the long point lace veil. The veil, by the way, deserves special mention. It came to a point at the top of the head, whence it spread out gradually to the end of the train, and was, indeed, the most satisfactory arrangement of its kind I have ever seen. Lilies of the valley and garde nias' formed the bride's bouquet The maid of honor wore pink chiffon, embroidered and trimmed with cream . colored lace. This lace was let in Avlth a short-waisted effect from some Inches above the waist to the belt line, dnd the skirt, which gave the impres sion of being full, was lace garnished. Her hat was of white chiffon, veiled with pink and trimmed with pink roses and green leaves. She carried a bou quet of pink and white sweet peas. The gowns of the bridesmaids, all ex actly alike, were of white crepe-de-chine. They were made with full bod Ices of lace, and had lace designs let Into the elbow sleeves. The bodices showed a berthe effect, which was very girlish and pretty. Sashes tied at the back were another feature. The hats worn with those costumes were of white tulle, with wreaths of white roses and green leaves; scarfs of white chiffon were knotted at the back of the hats and carried around over the left shoulder, ending In a large chou upon the front of the bodice. The bridesmaids' bouquets were the same as that of the maid of honor. The lit tle flower-girl was dainty in a pink chiffon frock garnished with wide rib bons. She wore a large pink picture hat. Another bride of the week wore Heavy white silk, with a very deep plaited flounce of white chiffon joined to the skirt by a wide ruchlng. As she was extremely slender, the effect was good. The bodice of this gown was of tucked silk, pulled into the waist and having a deep yoke of Irish lace, about which was a lovely old-fashioned fichu of fine crochet. The short sleeves were tucked in clusters and were finished in lace. In this Instance the gowns of the bridesmaids were of liberty silk, with clusters of tucks and lace insertion by way of trimming. The bride's mother wore an imported gown of black and white lace, showing some few spangles on the bodice. The handiwork on It was wonderful. A little toque com pleted the toilette. Ivory satin duchesse, although not favored by many, was very handsome upon a large and striking brunette bride of the week. This skirt was tucked in clusters on either side of the front gore, and was also tucked in the back. The skirt fit very snugly, and was extremely long and graceful. A regulation bridal veil fell from the crown of- the head to the end of the train, but she wore no wreath of orange blossoms. These flowers, how ever, formed a large part of the huge bouquet she carried. At a four-o'clock church wedding, it was a noticeable fact that few of the guests wore veils. Most of the handsomely gowned wo men, young and old, appeared in large picture hats, be-plumed, not be-flow-ered, and no face veils. They looked young and charming under the soft light of the place. There were some flower hats, but the more dressy ones were of plumes and laces, with scarfs of some sort trailing from the back. A handsome costume worn by a friend of the bride was of silver-gray, almost white, broadcloth. There were two broad bands of embroidered panne of the same delicate shade about the bot tom of the skirt, which was made Farmers & Merchants Bank 15th and O Streets, LINCOLN, NEBRASKA. Geo. W. The coat was a combination of coat and bodice, having a high collar of coarse cro cheted lace of a new pattern, and a white satin yoke covered with the same sort of lace. The yoke was finished In the back by three thick cords of the cloth, and there were nine of these cords upon each sleeve to the elbow. Prom here the sleeves were Isle of St. Vincent Shares Same Fate as Martinique The Island of St. Vincent, British "West Indies, has also been a victim of volcanic eruption. The front of the coat had two tiny square lapels of dark green velvet turned away to show the lace beneath. A gardenia hat completed this outfit.
