her father had died on Tuesday at his

holidays with her cousin. Miss Welch.
left on Saturday for her home in Lead,

Mr. and Mrs. M. Ackernian have h.id
as their guests this week Mr. Acker
inau's brother and his bride. Mr. and
Mrs. It. Ackernian. of Scrauton. Penn
sylvania, who are touring the west on
their wedding journey.
Mr. and Mrs. O. It. Idler entertained
the duplicate whist club this week.

Mr. and Mrs. I P. Sine returned
Saturday from Michigan where they
went to spend the holidays with Mrs.
Sine's parents, who celebrated their
golden wedding during that week.
Mrs. M. D. Welch returned the lirst
of th- week from Omaha, where she
went to spend the holidays, and to
witness the christening on Christmas
day of her grandson. William Merritt

The New Hook Heview club had a
social session last week with Mrs.
Kelly and Mrs. J. H. Stevens at the
home of the former. Cards were
played and a luncheon was served.
The club will meet next Wednesday
with Mrs. E. W. Nelson, when Mrs. O.
M. Stonebraker will talk of oriental
rugs.
The junior class of the state univer
sity will give its annual promenade
at the Lincoln, the evening of February
seventh. The committee will consist of
